More About Coach Rob

I have coached competitive runners formally and informally for over 15 years; including both individuals and teams. I hold a level-1 certification from the Road Runners Club of America and am pursuing additional certifications from USA Track and Field. While serving in the US Army, I coached several individuals to improve their finishing times for their fitness tests and I coached a team of US Army female runners that won multiple local championships in the 2-mile event. After my Army career I successfully coached several individual runners to achieve personal records (PR) for distances between 2-miles and marathon. While I have trained mostly adult men and women runners, I enjoy training with children of all ages through the Miami chapter of the Healthy Kids Running Series where I am the pacer for all the events in the fall and spring seasons.

After competing as a rather below average runner on my high school cross country team, I began to excel at running after my initial enlistment in the US Army. I began competing in distances ranging from 2-miles to marathon and was a top 5% finisher in many events. In my 30s, I began cycling and started competing in Triathlon and Duathlon eventually qualifying for TeamUSA and competing in the 2011 Duathlon World Championships. But my proudest athletic achievements are those of the runners I have trained. It’s inspiring and encouraging to help people that have never run 1 mile to be able to finish a competitive race and sometimes excel in their age groups. And it’s extremely satisfying to work with athletes that already have achieved success and take them to the next level.

Training sessions with Coach Rob are tailored to each individual runner. I work with athletes both in-person and virtually via web cam, email, chat, and phone. All training sessions will be designed specifically for the goals my runners want to achieve based on their current level of fitness. Training sessions will be efficient and effective so time and money are not wasted. We will focus on improving running fitness, running technique, and race strategy but most of all staying healthy and injury-free. A typical training session will consist of some dynamic stretching, warm-up running, specific training for that session, and warm-down running. Ideally my runners monitor their speed and pace with a GPS device, but that is completely optional and we can still achieve great progress focusing on time, distance and perceived effort. Whether I work with you in-person or virtually, you’ll run better than ever!

I had amazing time talking to Rob Regan. He explained the way he likes to coach and asked how I liked to be coached. We went over all the amazing options he has to offer. He even gave me some little tips to help with my running regardless if I decided to work with him. It’s nice to have a coach who does it for fun.

I booked a session with Rob as a surprise for my wife whilst visiting Miami from the U.K. as she loves running.
Rob was great from the start, communicating well via email and agreeing to come and meet us at South Beach.
The coaching started with Rob asking numerous questions and really making every effort to try and understand my wife’s ability, needs, likes, dislikes, injuries, history and many aspects that would assist in providing a great session.
The session itself was a great mix of running and technique work with Rob explaining areas to improve and the rational for the changes. He made every effort to explain everything in detail and in many different ways to ensure his point had been understood.
Rob covered many areas during the session, looking to improve technique, create a positive mindset and provide training drills that could assist in injury prevention.
The session was well paced and Rob didn’t give the impression at any stage that he was watching the clock.
Since returning to the U.K. Rob has sent a summary of the session via email providing great feedback and learning.
I would definitely recommend Rob as a coach and will absolutely look to use him again should we be lucky enough to visit Miami again in the near future.
