More About Coach Robert

I am a youth speed and agility coach and founder of Tenacity Sports Performance. I work with young athletes to improve acceleration, change of direction, footwork, balance, coordination, body control, reaction time, and overall athletic confidence.

My coaching background includes multiple seasons of youth football, including flag football and tackle football, as well as private and small-group athletic development training. While much of my coaching experience comes from football, my speed and agility training applies to athletes across multiple sports, including football, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, lacrosse, volleyball, and general youth athletic development.

I typically work with youth athletes from early elementary through middle school age, with a strong focus on ages 6–13. I enjoy working with beginners who need to build proper movement habits, as well as more advanced athletes who want to become faster, quicker, more coordinated, and more confident in competition.

My training sessions focus on teaching athletes how to move efficiently and safely. This includes sprint mechanics, first-step quickness, acceleration, deceleration, cutting, lateral movement, balance, reaction drills, footwork, coordination, and body positioning. I believe speed and agility training should be age-appropriate, challenging, positive, and built around strong fundamentals.

My certifications and training background include Parisi Speed School certification, IYCA Certified Speed & Agility Specialist, NFHS Level 3 coaching, USA Football certifications, CPR/First Aid, and additional education in youth athletic development. I also use timing tools and video analysis when appropriate to help athletes see their progress and understand how proper movement improves performance.

My goal is to help young athletes move better, run faster, change direction with more control, build confidence, and develop training habits that carry over into every sport they play.

My athletic background includes football, cross country, volleyball, and general fitness training. I was a high school cross country runner and volleyball player, which helped shape my understanding of conditioning, footwork, body control, endurance, teamwork, and the value of consistent training.

I did not compete at the collegiate or professional level, but my experience as an athlete, coach, and trainer has given me a strong foundation in teaching movement, speed, agility, coordination, and discipline to young athletes.

I have coached and helped develop athletes across several youth sports, including football, basketball, volleyball, t-ball, and baseball. My coaching experience includes both team settings and individual/small-group training, with a focus on helping athletes improve confidence, movement skills, footwork, speed, agility, body control, and overall athletic awareness.

My accomplishments as a coach come from helping young athletes build better fundamentals, move more efficiently, compete with more confidence, and develop habits that carry over into every sport they play. My goal is to give athletes the tools to become faster, more coordinated, more disciplined, and more confident both on and off the field or court.

A typical session with me is structured, high-energy, age-appropriate, and focused on helping the athlete move better, faster, and with more confidence. I want every athlete to understand not just what we are doing, but why we are doing it and how it carries over to their sport.

Each session starts with a dynamic warm-up focused on movement prep, mobility, balance, coordination, and body control. From there, I usually work through sprint mechanics and athletic movement fundamentals such as arm action, knee drive, posture, first-step quickness, acceleration, deceleration, cutting, lateral movement, and change of direction.

Depending on the athlete’s age, sport, and goals, drills may include sprint starts, resisted starts, cone drills, ladder or footwork patterns, reaction drills, mirror drills, shuffle-to-sprint transitions, backpedal-to-break drills, deceleration work, cutting mechanics, and short competitive races or challenges. I also use timing tools and video analysis when appropriate so athletes can see their progress and understand what they need to improve.

My sessions are not just running kids through random drills. I focus on teaching proper technique, correcting movement habits, building confidence, and making sure the athlete learns how to control their body. For younger athletes, I include games and competitive challenges to keep training fun while still developing speed, coordination, and agility. For older or more advanced athletes, I add more detail, intensity, sport-specific movements, and measurable performance goals.

A typical session may include a warm-up, movement skill work, acceleration training, change-of-direction drills, reaction or agility work, conditioning through competitive drills, and a short review at the end. I want the athlete to leave each session tired in a good way, more confident, and with a clear understanding of what they improved and what we are building toward.

Client Reviews

Dan Winterfield (Testimonial)

Program seamlessly adapts to young athletes of all ability levels. Fosters an environment that stresses teamwork and self-improvement. Very skill focused, and provides a cool blend of old school training with technology to pinpoint the mechanics that the athlete needs to adjust.

Brian Tramontano (Testimonial)

I was introduced to Tenacity Sports Performance through our local AYF football team. From the moment we got there, I could tell this was like no other training we had done before. The coach was well prepared and organized. He had the children all paying attention and working together. Each station was a different game aimed at improving speed and agility while keeping it fun. After the session we received an email with a full analysis of our child running. It focused on his form and speed. It included many suggestions on what he could do to get better. I would highly recommend Tenacity Sports Performance to athletes of all ages.

Krystina Arnold (Testimonial)

As a parent, I highly recommend Tenacity Sports Performance. My son Maverick is only 7 and has been attending their speed and agility clinics, including the runner’s analysis, and we’ve seen a huge improvement in his speed, quickness, and overall athleticism. He recently attended the Football Fundamentals Clinic with Coach Kirkland from Rowan and loved it—he talked about everything he learned the entire ride home. Most importantly, Tenacity has helped build his confidence both on and off the field.

Elton Copes (Testimonial)

Thank you for your patience and for creating such a positive environment where the youth can grow, have fun, and learn the fundamentals of football. My son really enjoyed the experience, and he will definitely be attending again.
