More About Coach Richard
I have been privately coaching for the last 12 years. I have extensive experience working with youth athletes, adults and elite runners. I’ve worked with athletes from beginners to experienced and they have all improved in their respective events. I’ve been able to develop them into better athletes through the training I offer. I have a BS in Kinesiology, focusing on Exercise & Human Performance. I am currently working on my USATF coaching certification.
I’ve been running competitively for the past 15 years. I competed throughout high school, then continued while college. I competed for Pasadena City College, and placed 4th in the 1500m at the CCCAA(State meet) while there. I received a scholarship to compete at Adams State University in Colorado. During my time there we won 2012 NCAA D2 Cross-Country nationals. After college, I continued to compete competitively with the goal of qualifying for the USATF National championships. As far as my events, I mainly focus on middle-distance events, my prs 800 - 1:53, 1500 - 3:50, MILE(road) - 4:03, 5k - 14:16.
Every session is tailored to an individual’s needs. For the most part, a typical training session includes a warm-up and cool-down, with the majority of the workout consisting of a mixture of the following: intervals, threshold run, long run, speed work, plyometrics, resistance exercises, speed ladder, drills and hurdles exercises to name a few. It all depends on what each athlete is looking to improve on.

Client Reviews
Eddie (CoachUp client)
Daughter really enjoyed her session. Coach Richard pushed her and gave her an outstanding lesson, all while being very motivating and encouraging. Daughter already a very good athlete, but with Coach Richard can see her reaching her goals and new PRs. Coach Richard was down to earth and really knew how to communicate with our 10 year old. She is excited to go back!

Worked well with my 6yr old and encouraged him AND me to keep trying and keep at it. He gave me some great advice on training him at home.He was a bit injured for the training but towards the end he couldnt help himself and was running alongside my son. Thanks Coach
Scott (CoachUp client)
My boys really enjoyed their session with Richard and are looking forward to their next time.
Jennifer (CoachUp client)
Coach Richard has been awesome! My daughter feels very comfortable working with him. She actually looks forward to her weekend sessions and it has been the breakthrough in getting her to run 7 days a week. Coach Richard is easy going and relates well to my daughter and her abilities. He challenges her and has introduced new exercises to strengthen her. We are looking forward to her first cross country meet this season and watching her times really come down. Coach Richard has been a great supplement to her high school coach and gives her a fresh perspective on running.
Wilfred (CoachUp client)
I think my son will learn a lot from Richard and should eventually improve his record and maybe win some medals. We are looking forward to more training schedules with coach.
