More About Coach Richard
As a licensed I’m Possible Skills Trainer and certified TDSE Trainer, for the past three years, I have helped athletes from as young as 10 years old all the way to college and professional players. I am currently the Lead Skills Trainer at PickUp USA Fitness in Rancho Cordova.
As a junior, I played for my home country of Wales and went on to play at the University of Wales, Bangor. I don’t put too much stock in where trainers/coaches have played, however. Of course, it can help, but just because you can/could do it, that doesn’t mean you know how to teach it.
I typically divide my 1-hour sessions into thirds with the first 20 minutes being spent learning new ball handling or finishing methods, followed by learning a new set of footwork and/or shooting drills, and then combining these new techniques together within a more realistic game scenario so that players learn how to apply their skills.
