More About Coach Raphael

As an athlete and coach with 32 years of track and field experience that I have been in this sport. I have competed in Germany, all over the great United States as a Master and overseas. I am a 55, 60,100, and 200 specialist. I have competed at the elite and Masters Level as well and have reached the status of All-World Rankings in the USA Track and Field Masters in all events. At this moment, I currently hold Simplot Games over 40 Coach’s 200 meter records as well as a few records from my Former LG Bamberg Track Club in Germany. I have coach sprinters who are now competing at the high school, collegiate and elite level. My experience in coaching comes from the “Former Olympiad Joseph Walter Gentry” Track Troupe in Colorado Springs, Co., International Coaching in Germany as well as professional coach and learning from my own experience as a track and field athlete.

I love this sport of track and field and working with young kids of all ages is an honor. Being to pass on my knowledge and skills to them, there is no kid that can’t be coached. Track and field is a sport that is very intents. Young kids starting out for the first time you must make it fun as well as challenging, this will allow you the chance that they will give you 100% every time.

Track and Field – Master’s 55, 60,100, 200, and Long Jump.

2001- All Bavarian Team Track Club 100m, 200m, 4X100m Relay and 4X200m Relay, LG Bamberg Germany Master`s Champion
2003- Puerto Rico “World Master’s USA Track and Field Championship” 4X100m Relay Over-40 Master’s Champion
Record Holder- Europe All Armed Forces Meet, Bamberg Germany in 100m 11.3
Record Holder- Over-40 Coach’s 200m, Simplot Games Indoor in 200m 23.2

My sessions consist of a light warm up, followed by stretching, ABC drills, and short sprints. The workout actually depends on the athlete experience and what sport or event they are preparing for. I normally start with a light workout to get the athlete body use to running as well as Agility, Balance and Control (ABCs) and knowing how to control breathing. The objective is to see improvement every time they compete or conducting their special event. The goal is to make sure that the athlete/ individual learn and as well understand what they are doing and teaching them to respect their sport for what it is. The bottom line is I expect each athlete to bring a good attitude everyday along with a willingness to accept coaching, a thirst for getting better.
