More About Coach Quincy
My experiences that I have coaching/training athletes are very diverse. I was the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the St. Augustine College's Women's Basketball team for about 2 years from 2002 to 2004 when I was a personal trainer for Phase II Personal Training in Raleigh, NC (I also did client training). From there I was a volunteer assistant Cross-Country/Track coach for Chapel Hill High School from 2005 to 2010 under Ron Olsen. During this span of time I also started and managed a running club at O2 Fitness at Southern Village in Chapel Hill, NC. More recently I still do client training focusing on overall health and fitness which can include or not include running.
My athletic highlights were having the opportunity to train with North Carolina's state record holder for several years every day to push him (Jack Bolas) to run 4:04 min mile in 2006. I also helped in his summer training transition to Wisconsin University. I have trained sporadically with semi-professional runners through out the years from 2007 until 2010, however, due to injury was not able to peak. I ran the Umstead Marathon (Raleigh, NC) finishing 11th in 2009. My strength is consistency and pacing which is my goal to help high school students or serious runners to stay on the right path with consistent running at certain paces. No great runner in history has ever trained completely by themselves. Having someone to hold them accountable, motivate/support, etc. before, during, and after their runs is crucial. In addition to running, I also can do the same routine for overall fitness through personal training.
A typical session would be mostly all focused on running and all the support that is needed before, during, and after running sessions. I would focus on pre-workout dynamic warm-ups, I would do the actual run at whatever pace or do the actual training session with them that they would need, ending with post-workout stretches/strength training if needed. I can help with making adjustments to an already designed training program. If a pacer or running partner is not needed then I can also coach someone as well with helping design a basic program to achieve their running goals. I can also do race pacing with them in that I would run with them during a race. I am pretty flexible and can cater to what they need. Of course, if our session is based on personal training not necessarily running then our session would include similar dynamic warm-ups, the actual strength training session, and an active cool down, etc.
