More About Coach Pj

My coaching philosophy is that I put my clients first, and empower them to take ownership of their running, training, racing and overall health. I have learned from some of the best minds in the sport and adapt these principles to wherever you are at. I am USATF Level 1 certified and have worked as a distance coach for the past 6 years with the following programs: Morro Bay High School, UC Santa Barbara, San Diego State, Rice University, Saint John's School.

I competed at the collegiate level, where I excelled in cross country, and currently pursue my running career on the roads. I own PR's of 15:46 in the 5K, 1:13:56 in the half marathon, and 2:44:47 in the marathon. My goal is to be a sub 2:30 marathoner one day!

You have an option of booking an in-person session, a month of online custom training plans (Virtual Coach Package), or a combination of both (Personal Coach Package) that includes one in-person session a week. I will use my experience to support you any way I can to reach the next level in your running career.

Pj is super knowledgeable and I learned so much in one 60 minute session. Would definitely recommend him to anyone who is trying to take their running to a different level or to someone who is just getting into running.

I personally experienced Peter’s ability to assess an athlete’s current abilities and communicate with them how to progress as an athlete. With his guidance as a coach, I was able to sustainably increase the quality and volume of my training. I transitioned from casually running to racing against other collegiate athletes in competitive programs. As I struggled with mental and physical blocks while increasing the caliber of my training, Peter used his own experiences as an athlete to guide me. The personal connection that Peter made with me as an athlete gave me the confidence to take my training to new limits and see gains in my performance as a result.
As a coach, Peter’s experience covers a wide spectrum, especially for someone his age. Already he has coached at the middle school, high school, community college, and NCAA Division I university levels. This has given Peter the chance to work with athletes of all different skill levels and aspirations- brand new runners who are looking to get in shape, athletes who need help reaching their potential, elite athletes who are competing at a national level, and everything in between. It has also given him the chance to learn from other coaches who lead successful and established distance running programs.
