More About Coach Peter

Peter was previously a summer camp counselor for 3 years coaching baseball and football for 8 - 14-year-old students at Delbarton School in Morristown, NJ. Delbarton School is a nationally recognized academic and athletic high school. More recently, Peter was an assistant Wide Receiver coach for Westlake Academy.

Peter Calvanelli was a three sport athlete at Delbarton School (Football, Track, and Baseball) in Morristown, NJ, a nationally recognized athletic and academic school. Statistical accomplishments include being in the top 10 in the state of NJ for number of bases stolen in a season. Recognized by the Star Ledger as the player of the week in the state of NJ for offensive, defensive, and special teams performance in a single game against a top 20 state recognized team. Recruited to play Football as a Wide Receiver for Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, the 2015 Ivy League Champions.

My athletic expertise covers multiple sports across multiple positions but my most recent and most refined expertise is coaching and playing at the wide receiver position. A typical session would cover techniques for route running, catching, agility, footwork, speed, and football IQ related scenarios (e.g. reading a defensive scheme, understanding the importance of different routes, etc.). I would always start a session with proper dynamic stretching and then progress into 3-step and 5-step route specific drills slowly. My philosophy is to break down key components of a typical play into bite sized digestible and tangible teaching points (e.g. teach WR release techniques, then route running fundamentals, then catching techniques, etc.) before progressing into a play in its entirety. The age of the client would ultimately dictate the complexity and difficulty of the drills but there would always be an emphasis on having a good time.
