More About Coach Paul
I have been providing Health Coaching for 20 + years (M.A., Counseling, 1985). I have been a State-Licensed Massage Therapist for 20 years. And, I have been a Certified Chi Gong and Yoga Instructor for 16 years. I am therefore qualified to assist athletes, dancers, martial artists, and performers to achieve physical results, relieve pain and stress, and improve concentration and goal-setting...the mind-body connection.
I have been a yoga practitioner since 1988. I have been studying chui gong since 1993. I have developed a Bodywork Treatment called "Yoga Therapy" that incorporates the elements of yoga stretching, tai chi movements, western physical therapy, and health coaching principles. I am developing a Training Course in Yoga Therapy. I'm finishing the workbook that teaches practitioners how to train clients in Yoga Therapy and Body Balancing techniques.
I conduct Health Coaching interviews first, 15 minutes to an hour, to explore your goals, your issues, and develop a yoga treatment plan. Then we do the yoga therapy session on a massage table. I support your body to move into assisted yoga postures. The postures are generally simplified stretches, with powerful results. More advanced, flexible athletes will be encouraged to deepen the stretching, work more muscles, and extend their spinal flexibility. During the session, I guide you to listen to your body, and learn to move your body in new ways. This will facilitate circulation, oxygen, and muscle strength. The third phase of our work is called integration. You will see the connection between the physical patterns, such as pain, tension, rigidity, weakness, and how these states connect to the mental/emotional patterns.
My sessions average 1.5 to2 hours in length.
