More About Coach Paul
My training experience includes 7+ years of training athletes from elementary through high school, former college players as well as a current professional, international athlete with a focus on mobility/range of motion, skill development, injury prevention, functional training along with strength and conditioning. I’ve worked for multiple gyms but I found my passion as an independent trainer because of the freedom of expression when it comes to how we train, how long we train which allows me to focus on attention to detail. I have experience training athletes that are just starting out with fundamentals of their specific sport. My most recent client is a professional athlete who was fresh off of ankle surgery. With proper warm ups, mobility work, strength, conditioning and calisthenic training she returned to her sport with a more explosive jump along with more of a dynamic/versatile overall game. I am currently certified as an Onnit Unconventional Trainer, ISSA certified and I also went to Bryan College which is specific to personal trainers.
I don't typically work with one age group as I train a diverse group of clients ranging from a recovered quadriplegic to a professional athlete.
I started playing multiple sports in my youth such as soccer, track and field, boxing, football, basketball in Sacramento and Redding area at Enterprise high school where we competed for the section championship game every year I played. I earned a few awards such as 400 meter (gold), 400 meter relay (gold), 800 meter relay (gold),long jump (bronze) but I’m most proud of the Coaches Award for the dedication, accountability and showing up to every practice and game even though I had a major injury.
Clients can expect to gain unique and insightful session with knowledge on how to use their whole body in the most safe, dynamic and effective way to accomplish their goals. I hold myself to an elevated standard of training in the areas of injury prevention, spinal alignment, dynamic movement, sports specific training.
With an athlete such as a basketball player I would start with dynamic stretches and movements that mimic their sport, optimize their overall performance and improves joint warm up to prevent injury. From the warm up we would the focus shifts to drills like off hand dribbling, 2 ball dribbling paired with medicine ball dribbling to improve speed, control and their handle. We would focus on position drills then emphasize on the form and consistency of their short, mid, long range jumper and furthermore their free throws. The strength and conditioning portion is where the dynamic training, proven techniques, applied knowledge and hard work are applied to the tools/equipment that will create the durability and longevity of their career. Ending with the cool-down portion where the athlete stretches, roll muscles out, properly hydrates and provides me with vital feedback

Juliane (CoachUp client)
My 9 yr-old son, Thomas, is beginner level and was ambivalent about lessons at first, but Paul motivated him to focus on forming good player habits and tuning out distractions. Thomas disappointed himself at times, but Paul redirected my son’s focus to what he was doing right and where he can practice to get better results. I saw that my son was learning about being a good sport and handling his disappointment at times. As my son began mastering things and feeling pride, he didn’t just devote 100%, but more than what was asked of him. Thomas is now looking forward to future months of lessons. I decided that 2-3 lessons a week until my son forms good ball handling habits is well worth it and plan to go to one weekly lesson later weeks.

Coach Paul, has had an important role in my son development to become the best basketball player he can be. Coach Paul has an unbelivable amount of energy, enthusiam and great attention to detail. My son looks foward to his one on one training and I can see improvment in his skills. He understand what my son needs are and where he has to develop more. He put together a game plan to get him to become a stronger more confient player. Very professional both with family and son. If you are looking for someone to help you elevate your game I recommend boooking.

very good with knowledge and getting Alonzo to do things the right way
Chadwick (CoachUp client)
He was great. Made quick friends with my son who tends to be pretty shy. My son enjoyed his session with him and can't wait to go back.
Doug (CoachUp client)
Coach Paul quickly evaluated my son and formulated a program for him. He is not a sideline coach, he is a trainer that gets on the court and works with my son. He is invested in taking my son to the next level. After only two sessions, my son has experienced substantial improvement. Paul is just what we have been looking for. I would recommend him to anyone except my son's opponents.

Coach Paul is currently working with our son on his basketball skills and conditioning. Coach Paul is GREAT!!!!! Our son's confidence is improving. His skills are dramatically better. We are looking forward to a very successful basketball season.
Rick (CoachUp client)
Coach Paul is very enthusiastic and I have already noticed an improvement in my grand daughters play and confidence. After only 3 sessions.
Hillary Hurley/ Professional Volleyball Player (Testimonial)
I came to Paul this Summer fresh off of surgery of my ankle and shoulder. I was frankly terrified of pre-season because I haven't attempted to jump all summer. Paul knew that my goal was to be able to jump normally, be explosive and dynamic. I didn't think there was anyway I was going to be where I need to be for season however Paul really worked hard with me, and found ways around my injuries. In only 6 sessions I became dynamic and explosive! It's all thanks to him and his effective alternative techniques that got me where I really needed to be. When I returned to Switzerland and got to training camp my vertical was the same as pre-surgery And I know it's all thanks to Paul's passion for doing what he does. I cannot see myself working with any other trainer so I look forward to working with him when I return next summer.
