More About Coach Nic
I have been coaching for 18 years for girls and boys ages 9-18 in both the club and school settings. My coaching experience and quest for volleyball knowledge has been acquired throughout Colorado, New York and Texas.
I spent my early coaching years in Colorado, 4 Years in the co-ed club setting at Loveland Parks and Recreation, Loveland Colorado (2003-2007) and 3 years at Battle Mountain High School in Edwards Colorado (2008-2010) as the Freshman Coach and Varsity Assistant. Then I moved on to Long Island New York where I coached 18U at Club Attack and assisted with Varsity at Bayport Blue Point High School (2010-2012). From there I moved home to Texas and have been coaching club and high school since (2013-Present) . I have spent 3 years with Invado Volleyball Club in Boerne and 3 years with San Antonio FORCE where I coached many teams ages 12'a through 18’s and have lead camps, clinics and sand in the summer. I have coached at TMI-The Episcopal School of Texas in San Antonio for 5 years. I was the 8th grade/middle school head coach and varsity assistant coach for 3 years (2014-2017) and Head Varsity Coach for 2 years (2017-2019). I recently left TMI to begin pursuing other coaching opportunities. I’m am still actively coaching on the club level and have both a 14s and 17s team this coming season at Houston FORCE volleyball club.
Over the years I have completed several Coaching courses and am certified in the following:
CPR, IMPACT, CAP I, and CAP II, USAV Provisional Referee, USAV Scorer, Safesport
I have been playing volleyball for over 20 years. I played as an Outside Hitter for 2 Years on the Varsity level at Fredericksburg High School, competed at the club level in college at the University of Northern Colorado and have played for a competitive league in Germany. I have also competed in King of the mountain in Vail Colorado, King of the Beach on Long Island New York and many other adult leagues across my travels.
I am very fundamentally driven, enjoy breaking down skills and have been known as the "fix-it" coach. If there are any skills that you are having trouble mastering or have bad habits in form, I can assess the problem and help you fix it. I am great at breaking down skills and the game into how and why things should be done. Sessions would be customizable based on the skills the client would like to work on.
My availability is very flexible and is usually based on when and where I can get gym time. My availability page is based on the easiest times for me to reserve a gym. If you have your own location to meet, and I don't have to schedule gym time I can be available most times. I would also provide a discounted rate if I do not provide the facility.
