More About Coach Nick
What do I have that others may not? Well, for starters, I have walked into dozens of training gyms, classes, dojos, or workshops with a large variety of styles. I feel confident that I know as much as 80% of the instructors out there. I have a 3rd degree black belt in Military Hapkido, I am certified in all 4 forms of Wing Chun Kung Fu including the 118 techniques of the wooden dummy form. I am an elite trainer in Tactical Self Defense and I have 5 years of experience in teaching community education courses in self defense. All together, I have over 15 years of teaching martial arts. I started teaching martial arts privately about 6 years ago because I wanted to find people with as much passion for martial arts and self defense as I have- are you that person? Ready to break the mold and learn martial arts for real? Real application, real self defense, real skill advancement?
I have a 3rd degree black belt in Hapkido (where Jackie Chan learned his kicks and punches), I have several differing ranks in Wing Chun Kung Fu (Bruce Lee), Aikido (Steven Segal), Tactical Self-defense (Military and peace officer training), etc.
I teach Tai Chi fundamentals, some weapons basics, take downs, break-falls, evasive maneuvers, grappling, Kicks, punches, throws, etc.
My students and I are not cage fighters or prize fighters. We are street smart, courageous to act and not be acted upon, and strive to be protectors- not aggressors. Many have gone on to be wise citizens, peace offices, military professionals, security professionals, and protectors. We are warrior athletes that train for preparedness, not for show, not for trophies, and not for money.
My athletic highlights save lives.
I call what I do "Martial Art Therapy". My background is unique because I am a martial artist AND an occupational therapist (see AOTA.org)- which means if your chosen activity in life is the way of martial arts, I can rehab your training (where you are missing key essentials), prevent dysfunction, educate and train you in new material and abilities, and coach you to do what you do- more fully and expertly.
Whatever your background, I can show YOU how to make yourself better, faster, more fluid, and efficient- I will guide your to your vision and goals and teach you to be where you want to be.
My specialty is unique because my skill lies in the practical application of fundamentals, the ability to break down certain moves and components, and the understanding that is based on instruction and guidance, not just for a belt, a certain fight, a culture, or just self-defense. If you know where you want to be, I will find a way to help you there.
