More About Coach Nate

I’ve been a coach since I have graduated high school. I was a Head coach for a bantam and midget team for one season and have been an assistant coach going on two years now helping with junior varsity wrestlers as well as varsity wrestlers. In addition to coaching at different programs I also offer private lessons and am currently working with one wrestler at this time, but I would like to add a few more. The youth team I coached was at Sterling High School and the Junior Varsity athletes I help with is at Kingsway Regional High School. I’ve coached all ages from 10-18 which includes guys and girls and a variety of different weight classes. It does not matter to me what age group the kids are in. My goal is I want to see improvements from the athletes as well as help them fall in love with the sport same way I did when I first began my wrestling journey. I currently do not have any industry certifications.

Some induvial athletic accomplishments I have earned were I was a three-year varsity Letterman, 2x District champ, 3rd place region, 1x NJ State Qualifier,1x Mustang Classic place winner, and 2023 First Team – SJ Times. Some Team accomplishments I've been a part of were 2020 SJ District 32 champions, 2020 SJ Group IV Sectional Champions, 2021 NJ #1 Public School, 2021 SJ #1 overall, 2022 SJ District 29 champions, 2022 SJ #1 overall, and 2023 Sj District 29 champions. I did not compete at the collegiate or professional level. I competed at Kingsway Regional High School. Some awards I have been awarded have been I have received the most improved wrestler and have been awarded the coaches award. Some honors I have also earned would be I was a captain on Varsity my senior year. Looking back at what I achieved for a wrestler who started freshman year is a very impressing feat and with everything that I know now, I want to transfer my knowledge to the youth. Making it to the state tournament at the end of the season is very hard even for wrestlers who have done it since youth and for me to make it to that tournament and win a match was a personal accomplishment that means a lot to me and everyone who had helped me get to that point in my career

Well First it depends on the client, I'm able to teach all levels of Wrestling but it depends how much the athlete can absorb. But typically, I like to start a practice with some core work which to me is the most important thing a wrestler can improve. So I like to start with some head stands which engages the core. I saw the levels I was jumping when I started doing this as a new wrestler. Then followed by some back bridges and stretch the neck out. After that we are getting up and going right into a stance and motion for six minutes. As a wrestler we are in the stance a lot so we must learn and be comfortable there. After the sweat begins to form I like to slow it down a little and work on proper technique form all positions; neutral, top and bottom. We will do that for around 30-35 minutes. Then take a little water break before we go into either situational live or a live match were the athlete can practice what we worked on that day at a match pace speed. After the hard match we do a cool down which is similar to the warm up. More head stands because when you are tired you have to be able to do what you did before.
