More About Coach Nakeechia

My current focus is building and operating The Iron Den at White Street Station, a basketball strength & conditioning performance program designed to develop disciplined, explosive, well-conditioned athletes on and off the court. My coaching philosophy is centered around fundamentals, conditioning, mental toughness, accountability, and athlete development.

My most recent school coaching experience was serving as an assistant coach for the York Prep Academy Girls Varsity Patriots during the 2023–2024 season. The program had struggled for several years, but we helped rebuild confidence, improve fundamentals, and create a more competitive culture. We finished the season 12–12 and earned a playoff appearance while helping players rediscover their love for the game.

Prior to York Prep, I coached and trained athletes at Chester High School, working with both the Girls Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball programs. I specialized in strength and conditioning, basketball fundamentals, advanced practice development, conditioning drills, team chemistry, and player accountability. The athletes I coached ranged from 14–18 years old.

My background as a player heavily influences my coaching style. I played basketball from middle school through college at Benedict College on both academic and athletic scholarships. Throughout my career, I learned that fundamentals, conditioning, discipline, and preparation separate average athletes from elite competitors. My mission now is to pour that knowledge into the next generation of athletes through structured training, leadership, and high-energy development programs.

Basketball has been a major part of my life for decades, both as an athlete and a coach. I helped lead multiple teams to championship victories at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. I won championships at Chester Middle School, Chester High School, and Benedict College while competing against strong collegiate programs throughout the Southeast.

At Chester High School, our championship season resulted in only one loss the entire year, and I played nearly every minute of every game as a floor general and leader. At Benedict College, I competed against schools such as Tuskegee University, Clark Atlanta University, Stillman College, and Payne College, where I gained valuable experience competing at a higher level.

Today, my greatest accomplishment is no longer winning championships personally — it is helping athletes improve their confidence, conditioning, discipline, work ethic, and overall performance. Through The Iron Den Basketball Strength & Conditioning Program, my goal is to help athletes become stronger, faster, mentally tougher, and more prepared for the next level of competition both on and off the court.

Training sessions at The Iron Den are built around basketball performance development, conditioning, strength training, explosiveness, mobility, and athlete mindset development.

Each session begins with:

* Dynamic stretching and mobility work
* Warm-up drills
* Speed and agility activation
* Conditioning preparation

Athletes then move into structured performance stations focused on:

* Basketball conditioning
* Footwork
* Explosive movements
* Strength development
* Agility and reaction drills
* Endurance training
* Core stability
* Mental toughness exercises

Sessions are designed to push athletes physically while also building confidence, discipline, leadership, and accountability. Athletes are constantly challenged through competitive drills, timed circuits, conditioning tests, and team-focused training environments.

The Iron Den program operates on a high-energy atmosphere that combines athletic performance training with basketball-specific conditioning to help athletes improve their overall game performance, stamina, movement, and competitive mindset.

Thank you for believing in us and leading us to a successful season. Nobody has ever took the time out to teach us the game of basketball the way you have. You were not only a coach to us, you were a sister a mother, an auntie, a tutor, and most importantly, a role model." Thank you we miss you!
My coaches throughout my basketball career always told me, you have what cannot be taught, heart.
