More About Coach Morgan
I am a runner of 10 years and absolutely love helping others of all ages to become as passionate about running as I am! I was an intern at a local gym near my college when the owner and some of the personal trainers let me assist them in their training. I was given my own clients to train while I studied for my personal trainer certification. I would also help some of the other trainers when their clients had running questions. I do not currently have my certification yet but I should soon. I am also CPR and AED certified. I have a degree in Exercise Science and have taken the personal trainer certification class. With the information I have I am sure I can help anyone with whatever running goals they have!
In high school I was a sprinter, I ran everything from the 55 meter dash to the 400 meter hurdles. I also dabbled in the pole vault into college.I participated in the state meet my junior and senior year for the 400 meter hurdles. I was also awarded the Most Valuable Senior Female Athlete at my high school. This makes me very knowledgeable about how to train for any sprinting event. After I sprinted for a year in college I decided to go down a different route. I had run cross country in high school but nothing longer than a 5k. I signed up for a half marathon the next fall and fell in love. I have participated in three half marathons and one full marathon since than and if my body lets me I see no stopping in the foreseeable future! It took self-motivation to continue running and switch to distance after college but my self-motivation and patience will surely reflect in my coaching so that you too can accomplish your own personal goals!
It all depends on what you are looking to accomplish, whether you want to complete a marathon or run your first 5k I know I can help you! I like to work on speed drills on the track. Interval training (fartlek) will be done often. I can also help you set up a running program for a particular race. With my personal training background I may have my clients do some body weight strength training as well . I always stretch before and after every run to diminish the potential for injuries.
