4 years of experience as a personal trainer (NASM)

As competition continues to grow, developing the skills necessary to reach the next level is more difficult than ever.

As a coach my goal is to inspire, motivate, and improve performance at every level. Whether you are new to baseball, looking to build upon natural talent, need help identifying issues with consistency, or just have a desire to bring your game to the next level, I'll make it happen. I believe that in order to be successful and improve, it is important for me to push you to work hard, but also maintain a motivational and positive mindset as we work together to refine your skills. Whether you pitch, play infield, or outfield, we’ll develop everything from fundamentals to advanced mechanics. I've got you covered.

From throwing motion to batting stance, most people agree that it is important to develop mechanical skills, but oftentimes aren’t sure where to start or don’t recognize mistakes that are compensated by and covered with athleticism.

I believe character and soft skills are vitally important for development and contribute to success. We’ll talk about confidence, composure, team-building skills, motivation, excellence, and focus when dealing with slumps. A player should never hang their head after an error or strikeout - instead I teach them how to identify what happened so they can improve instead of feel defeated.

One-size-fits-all may work for your baseball cap, but it doesn't work when it comes to coaching. My coaching style adapts to each player I work with.

Experience at every level from T-Ball all the way to Amateur hardball, including:
Houston Hardball League
Walk-on at Texas A&M University
High school starter for 4 years (HCYA, Thunder, Cy-Fair)

4x All-Star
3x Batting Champion
1x MVP

Batting: League Leader (2x Batting Average, 4x Stolen Bases 2x Runs, 2x Extra Base Hits, 1x RBIs)
Pitching: League Leader 1x ERA

I specialize in identifying small mechanical issues in skilled players. If you struggle with consistency in fielding the ball, transition speed, accuracy when throwing, or making contact with the ball, I’m here to help. The most common issue I see in good baseball players is that athleticism compensates for bad mechanics. Making small corrections can be the difference between being a pretty good baseball player and a consistently great baseball player.

Every session will always start with a conversation about expectations and what we want to accomplish. That will be followed by drills that are player, position, and skill-specific that will help me identify any small or obvious issues that negatively impact the player.

For pitchers: I cover the 7 steps of pitching mechanics when I teach or refine the following pitches: 2 seem fastball, 4 seem fastball, change up, slider, and curveball (with variations including sinker, splitter, and circle-change). I will always recommend pitchers at high school or below focus on mastering two primary pitches (fastball and a breaking ball) and mixing in a change up. There is no reason to throw more than that unless you’ve mastered all three.

Batting will include evaluation of the 6 steps of hitting mechanics from stance to contact and include drills tracking, hip movement, and timing drills. I prefer on field, but am also open to batting cages.

Please ensure your player has their own equipment (glove, bat, etc.) If they do not have their own, please let me know in advance.

Typically I do no travel, but am open to discussion.

Client Reviews

My coach was a phenomenal listener and gave me fantastic tips to improve my performance.

Micah did a great job with my 5 year old. He went over 3 key things and my son picked up on them and is remembering everything he taught him 3 days later. Great job, Coach Micah!
