More About Coach Merric
I’ve been a personal basketball trainer for the past 3 years working with age groups from 11-18. I currently am a self employed trainer through word of mouth and have built my own brand through social media serving the northwest suburbs. I am also a certified Personal trainer outside of basketball with weightlifting as well. I have also been involved with coaching for AAU as well such as GSBS or full package out in the suburbs. I currently train at local gyms out in Downers grove and Burr Ridge with mostly high school and middle school children at the moment both boys and girls.
Specific athletic accomplishments are playing 2 years of NJCAA basketball at both Moraine Valley Community college and Richard J Daley college where I made a solid impact. At Moraine during my freshman year we won the Illinois skyway conference for NJCAA finishing with the most wins in conference that year. At Daley we finished 2nd in conference that year while I averaged 3.6 ppg
2.8 rpg and 1apg as well as averaging a block a game as an undersized guard at 6’2. In high school I attended Catalyst Maria where during my junior year we won a city championship in the Chicago public league within the green conference helping our school advance into the blue conference my senior year.
A typical session I give my clients always begins with a strong emphasis on stretching and the importance of staying loose before games and practices. After, I tend to what my clients want to work on whatever specified thing it may be. For example someone who is looking to improve as a ball handler for their high school as a point guard. We would do a variety of ball handling workouts involving weighted ball workouts, contact ball handling, learning to take angles and manipulate defenders to open as well as handle pressure in tense game like situations. I tend to mostly work with athletes looking to improve their scoring capabilities whether it be shooting an efficient percentage or learning to finish at an elite level.
