More About Coach Melanie
I have been an active individual my whole life, playing competitively in tennis, volleyball, golf, cross country, track and field, field hockey and basketball.
In most recent years I've been a member of Michigan Kettlebells Stength and Conditioning. I've been brought on as a coach this past year, training anywhere from single individuals to groups of 12 with ages ranging from 20's-60's.
This gym incorporates primarily workout with kettlebells, but also includes plyometrics, barbells, any many other fun fitness equipment. Since I was brought on as a coach I've introduced yoga to our gym which is a big passion of mine and has become popular amongst the members.
I have a degree from Central Michigan University in biology as well as nutrition. I am currently working on my certification for sports nutrition through the International Society of Sports Nutrtion, and a certification as a personal a trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Throughout high school I competed in tennis, volleyball and golf. I won many awards as a tennis player, winning in OAA Leagues and competing at OAA State level. I was also elected to compete for my golf team at OAA Leagues and placed first for my team, and this is coming from someone who picked up a golf club for the first time during tryouts.
At Michigan Kettlbells Strength and Conditioning I trained to compete in the International Kettlbell Fitness Federation competition where I laced second place. I then trained to compete in the International Kettlebells Games where I placed first place for the qualifiers.
This year I was able to train others for the Internaltional Kettlbells games which was an honor and such a great event, all of which placed first or second.
Every session is started with a warm-up and joint mobility.
Workouts can vary from 2 different 15 minute routines or a longer 30 minute session. It can be catered to your goals. Your body is a great tool and you can achieve a great workout. Kettlebells and barbells are something I like incorporate into workouts as they are a great tool. Don't be discouraged if you've never used them before, I'm here to coach you!
Workouts always end with a cool down session which generally includes some yoga stretching.
