More About Coach Meghann

Since discovering yoga over 16 years ago, I have found an openness, perseverance and joy that infuses all aspects of my life, and I strive to share these benefits with others. I have taught yoga for over 3 years and to adults and children ages 6-18, both at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. I am a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certified through the Yoga Alliance and specializing in Vinyasa Flow Yoga. I saturate each class with energy and enthusiasm utilizing intentional sequences to provide a challenging, invigorating, yet fluid practice. In order to calm and strengthen both body and mind, I teach a slow flow with longer holds and strong emphasis on proprioception and body alignment. With a background in social work and outdoor education, I maintain a constant connection between the internal self and external environment. This holistic perspective enables my students to to easily translate their yoga practice into their daily lives, whether in posture, athletic endeavors, or daily mindfulness. I bring my passion, humor and enthusiasm to each practice and view each moment as an opportunity to open the mind to everything life has to offer.

In 2012, I graduated from the Yoga Arts 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training in Sri Lanka. In December of 2014, I completed the year long Down Under School of Yoga 300-hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training in Brookline, Massachusetts which totaled my RYT-500 certification.

Outside of yoga, I competed on the swim team in college (Freestyle and Back stroke) and continue to swim long distance now. I run in many races and have competed in several sprint triathlons. Yoga has been an integral part of all my training regimens and can complement any athletic endeavor.

Private yoga instruction is valuable for a multitude of reasons and can address so much more than what is offered in the group setting.

If you…
• Are a beginner seeking a strong foundation before starting a home practice or jumping into a public class
• Have or are recovering from an injury or trauma
• Have a solid foundation but want to take your practice to the next level
• Are training for an event and seek the complementary benefits of yoga
• Are retraining a bad habit, or a host of other reasons…

I will work with you to set goals, and develop a plan to meet your specific needs. An initial assessment from our first session will lay the groundwork for your individualized plan, and then each session thereafter will build upon the last. I assign “homework” in the form of postures, breath work, exercises, or reading/watching material to ensure progression towards your goal between sessions.

I can provide studio space or come to you in the comfort of your space. A typical session begins with a warm up, proceeds to Sun Salutations, explores poses specific to each student, wind down, and savasana, or corpse pose (5-10 minutes of rest). Each session is deliberate and concentrated, as are my instructional cues and adjustments.

Client Reviews

I had my first session with Meghann and she was awesome!!!!

I am a beginner and she took a lot of time to understand what I was trying to achieve and also work around my limitations (inflexibility!). She made me feel really comfortable and excited that I could build a Yoga practice over time - I am going to start regular sessions with her going forward!

Thanks!!

Just had my first yoga session with Meghann.
She was very helpful in introducing the basic principles of yoga and I look forward to continuing to work with her.

Meghann H. was FANTASTIC. She responded so fast and I was able to schedule her appointment with her within hours! She did a fantastic job teaching and was very personable and prompt. I would definitely recommend her!

Meghann teaches in a way which makes clear that yoga isn’t just a series of movements but of moments of your existence and that experiencing each moment engages your mind and body. She enables you to develop the focus you need to involve yourself completely in each of these physical and mental acts. In gentle, clear terms, she describes the “space” available in a movement or pose so you can learn how to create the mental space needed for your body to get there. She takes the necessary time to make sure you understand how to get into the correct alignment and how to relax into each pose so you can experience yoga's physical and mental release. Her soothing and often humorous direction conveys how each pose, each bit of physical and mental learning is an experience of its own and how these link together over an hour and then over weeks and months.
