More About Coach Megan
My coaching experience began in January of 2014 after I finished my 200 hour yoga teacher certification from Yoga Alliance in Los Angeles. Since then I have taught vinyasa, hot yoga, hatha yoga, prenatal and restorative yoga in studios from Los Angeles to the Monterey area. I work with people who have never practiced yoga to advanced practitioners with age groups ranging from teenagers to seniors. I have coached many types of athletes including high school girls volleyball teams and boys basketball teams.
SoCal hot yoga in Brentwood California is where my teaching career began. I led a vigorous vinyasa class in a heated room to students of all levels. When I moved to Monterey California in 2015 I started teaching regular classes at Seaside Yoga Sanctuary, this was a Level 3 yoga flow class. I also taught Hatha yoga Om studio in Carmel to a regular group of students who are mainly seniors. For a 10 months I taught at Ventana Inn and Spa guiding people of all levels and capability though an hour meditative and restorative yoga flow. My most recent gig is at Carmel Barre in Monterey where I teach a power flow with weights. After having a baby in September 2016 I am able to cater classes to pre and post natal women as myself, practiced yoga throughout my entire pregnancy. I also teach private sessions from the convenience of the home or am able to rent a space at the studios I work at.
My athletic background began at a young age as I grew up competed as a high level gymnast. In high school, I ran cross country and track all four years and raced in CCS. In college, my passion and love for yoga truly blossomed. I found yoga in one of my college freshman yoga classes in 2010 and since then have regularly practiced Bikram, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Ariel Silks and Hatha yoga and have personally experienced the beneficial and transformative ways it has improved my life.
I can train an athlete who simply needs to find the meditative and restorative properties of yoga, one who is looking for a deep stretch or even someone who is interested in a vigorous and sweaty vinyasa yoga practice. If you decide to train with me we can work on toning and gaining strength in particular areas of the body or do a full body workout that leaves you feeling revived and rejuvenated afterwards. During our initial meeting we can discuss any areas of concern, prior injuries and establish fitness goals. From there, a typical session will start with a warm up, breathing exercises, 40 minute practice and a 10 minute cool down/meditation. Sessions vary upon individual client and skill level. The main goal for me is to help you grow stronger and more flexible physically as an athlete. I hope to also serve as a guide or mentor to facilitate a calmer mental state and a more "zen" you.
