More About Coach Max

I have trained over 100 athletes throughout the New Jersey and New York area, ranging from middle school players to current college athletes. My coaching and training experience spans individual skill development, small-group training, team coaching, and long-term player development.

I served as the Director of Player Development for The Ramaz School in New York City, where I worked closely with players on skill development, basketball IQ, and overall growth. In addition, I have coached at the AAU, high school, and collegiate levels, giving me experience working with athletes at every stage of their development.

Throughout my career, I have worked with organizations including The Ramaz School, Chris Ward Basketball, Rosow Elite Performance, and ProHoops. As part of the ProHoops Pre-Draft Process, I assisted with workouts and player development for NBA and professional prospects, including projected NBA lottery pick Nate Ament, Jeremy Fears Jr., Otega Oweh, Tari Eason, RJ Davis, Tyson Etienne, and other high-level collegiate and professional players.

I have also coached at numerous college team camps and served as a coach for the Maccabi Games, helping athletes compete and develop in highly competitive environments.

As a former college basketball player and team captain at Yeshiva University, I bring firsthand experience from the highest levels of competition. My goal is to help every athlete maximize their potential through detailed instruction, game-realistic training, and a strong emphasis on fundamentals, confidence, and basketball IQ. I work with athletes of all ages, from beginners learning the game to advanced high school and college players looking to elevate their performance and reach the next level.

I competed at both the Division I and Division III collegiate levels, giving me experience playing against some of the top talent in the country.

I began my collegiate career at Bryant University (NCAA Division I), where our team won the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship and earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament.

I then spent four years at Yeshiva University (NCAA Division III), where I was a four-year starter and three-time team captain. During my career, I earned Second Team All-Conference honors twice and helped lead the program to two conference championships, two NCAA Tournament appearances, and an NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance.

Throughout my college career, I developed a strong understanding of player development, leadership, and the habits required to compete at a high level. These experiences allow me to provide athletes with both the technical skills and the mindset needed to succeed on and off the court.

My sessions are designed to be high-energy, game-like, and challenging while focusing on the skills that translate directly to success on the court.

I like to start every workout with an intense ball-handling series. Ball handling is the foundation of the game and is important for players of all ages and positions. In today's game, being able to handle the ball confidently opens up opportunities to score, create for teammates, and play with greater freedom.

From there, we move into a finishing segment with a major emphasis on playing off two feet, finishing through contact, and making reads that occur in real game situations. Rather than doing drills just for the sake of doing drills, I focus on teaching moves and finishes that players will actually use during competition.

Throughout the workout, I like to mix in shooting drills, often incorporating movement, footwork, and decision-making to simulate game-speed shots. The final portion of the session is typically dedicated to shooting, where players work on both consistency and efficiency from various spots on the floor.

Everything we do is measured against a target score, percentage, or time standard to create accountability and allow players to track their progress over time. I also incorporate live reps and competitive situations whenever possible so players can apply their skills under pressure.

In addition to skill development, conditioning is built into every workout. My goal is for players to leave each session knowing they were pushed, improved, and challenged in ways that directly impact their performance in games. If you consistently put in the work, you will see real results.

Max is one of the hardest-working and most knowledgeable basketball minds I’ve been around. He has a unique ability to break down the game and explain things in a way that players can immediately understand and apply. Whether it’s skill development, shooting mechanics, or game situations, he always brings energy, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to help players improve. Any athlete working with Max will become a better player and gain a deeper understanding of the game." - College Teammate
