More About Coach Max
I have experience coaching and training baseball players through private lessons, small-group training, camps, and player development sessions. I typically work with youth, middle school, high school, and college-level players, mainly focusing on hitting, swing mechanics, approach, confidence, and game preparation. I have coached in Central Florida as a private baseball instructor and trainer, using my 10 years of professional playing experience, including Major League Baseball experience, to help players improve and understand the game at a higher level.
I was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2012 MLB Draft out of Trinity Prep in Winter Park, Florida, and went on to play 10 years of professional baseball. I competed at every level from Rookie Ball through Triple-A and reached the Major Leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, and Cleveland Indians. I was also named the Pittsburgh Pirates Minor League Player of the Year in 2015. My biggest accomplishments include being drafted out of high school, making an Opening Day MLB roster, reaching the Major Leagues, and competing against some of the best players in the world.
A typical session starts with a quick conversation about the player’s goals, recent games, and what they feel at the plate. From there, I watch them swing and identify what needs the most attention. I focus on building a simple, repeatable swing, improving timing, approach, pitch recognition, confidence, and helping each player understand how to compete in a game.
HitTrax ball flight tracking and date included!
Sessions usually include tee work, front toss, side toss, machine work, and situational hitting depending on the player’s age and skill level. I like to explain things in a way players can actually feel and repeat, not just overload them with too much information. My goal is for every athlete to leave with a better understanding of their swing, a clear plan, and more confidence at the plate.
