More About Coach Matthew
I have been swimming with a passion since 7 years old and swam competitively thru College. In high school, I was an All-American and was State 6A champion in two events. I also went to Junior Nationals my senior year in High School. I swam for the United States Coast Guard Academy, a Division III NCAA School and have been swimming masters off and on since I graduated in 1993.
In 2009 I started coaching the local swim team and became head coach in 2011. I built up an awesome program with 75 kids of all ages (5 to 18) and had four assist coaches teaching the little kids how to swim. My motto as a coach is to create a "positive learning environment" that swimmers want grow, work hard and keep coming back. I am also a certified USA Coach and current coach with a local swim team.
I enjoy working with all ages and can teach all strokes, turns and dives. I am very good at breaking down each stroke and building upon each area to make a perfect stroke for the best results possible. I have an excellent eye and can immediately see what you are doing right and wrong and know how to fix it or build upon your positive areas.
Going fast and winning are my specialties and I would love the opportunity to work with you.
I am also a Coast Guard Officer with over 20 years of operational water experience. My experience as a Coast Guard Officer has given me exceptional organizational and management experience which I have shaped into my coaching career. I have exceptional strategic planning and technical detail toward coaching and training all levels of professionals in the water environment.
