More About Coach Marvin

I have been kickboxing since 1996. Shortly thereafter I started competing, first as an amateur and then as a professional. I was the first competitor in America to compete and win professional titles in San Shou, San Da, Muay Thai, & Full Contact Kickboxing. I had 24 fights between 1996 - 2002. I retired from competition in 2002. I started teaching kickboxing in September 1997 and I have been teaching kickboxing and coaching fighters ever since.

My clientele is extremely diverse and I train people who have different goals. Whether you would like to learn kickboxing for self defense, for weight loss, or to compete as an amateur or professional kickboxer I can help you to accomplish your goal.

Whether you are a beginner or a fighter I will develop a plan that will help you to get your skills to the next level.

For someone with little or no experience in kickboxing, I will start by teaching them the proper stance, footwork, basic punches and kicks. I will do a variety of drills with my client which involves hitting the focus mitts, heavy bag, and the thai pads, mixed in with some calisthenics. These drills are designed to help the practitioner improve their speed, strength, and coordination while learning valuable kickboxing skills.

For more experienced practitioners I will teach them how to defend and counter the punches and kicks using a variety of techniques which include head movement, footwork, catching kicks and take downs. For people who are extremely advanced and want to get a bit more out of the workouts I will spar with them if they want me to.
