More About Coach Marcus
Over the past three years, I have coached at the varsity and sub-varsity levels, working closely with middle and high school athletes and recently started my training company Advantage Lab Hoops. My training philosophy blends elite skill development with strong fundamentals and basketball IQ. I emphasize game-applicable training, decision-making, and habits that translate directly to team success. I also deeply value the European grassroots development model, which prioritizes long-term growth over short-term results.
I specialize in working with committed middle school and high school athletes in the Johnson County, Kansas area who are serious about improving their skills, earning opportunities, and reaching their full potential — both on and off the court.
A Chicago native, I began my collegiate career at Saint Louis University before transferring to Indian Hills Community College, where I was a key contributor to the 2008–09 team that finished 30–3 and ranked in the top five nationally. I went on to the University of Colorado, starting all 68 games of my career with the Buffaloes and finishing ranked 10th all-time in three-point percentage in program history.
Following college, I spent 12 years playing professionally, with experience in the NBA G League and internationally in Sweden, Lithuania, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Argentina, Israel, and France. Over the course of my professional career, I played in more than 400 games and scored over 6,000 points worldwide.
