More About Coach Maddy

During the last year, I have been an assistant volunteer coach for the Duke University Track team specifically with the sprints and 800 meter runners. The age range is 17-22. I have previously helped coached about 2-3 track camps in the Bay Area, California and coached many sports at summer camps throughout my life.

I was a 5x All-American for Duke University in the 4x400 and 6+ time All-ACC selection in the 400, 200 and 4x400 meters. I was nominated the Duke Athletics MVP in 2018 by my peers and hold 4+ school records for Duke.
I was an Olympic Trials Finalist in 2016 in the 200m and 400m for Canada and am on their National Team. I am currently running professionally and most recently got 4th at the IAAF World Relays in Japan for Team Canada. I am training now professionally in hopes of making the 2019 World Championships and the 2020 Olympic Games.

At first we would focus on warm up and speed drills that start to get the athlete feeling proper running form. These drills are ones that I do myself when I train so they are helpful to get your body ready to sprint. On a sprint day we would then do accelerations to about 30-40 meters working on sprint form and putting force into the track before moving into a bit longer accelerations so we can see our stride open up. On non- speed days we would do what we call 'tempo' on the grass which is sets of 100s or 200s with good form at 75% of our max speed to shake our legs out from sprinting in previous sessions. Those are just a few examples!

Client Reviews

I’ve had another trainer but they were nothing like Coach Maddy. She’s really friendly and made me feel 100% comfortable. She explains/shows everything so perfectly and ensured that I caught on to everything that she was teaching me. In just one session I learned a lot. I never had a training session that was actually fun and interesting. I look forward to working more with her in the future. She’s highly recommendable!

Coach Maddy is a great coach! After two sessions my son learned lots of new training and technique skill he never knew in his middle school. Also she is very nice, patient and easy going person. Definitely top notch, I would recommend Coach Maddy to anyone.
