More About Coach Luke
I have been a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Harvard University since June of 2013. I have experience working with a wide variety of different athletes from Division I and Division II athletics. I also have experience working with high school athletes, helping run a speed and agility camp while attending college in Missouri.
As an athlete, I participated in football, wrestling, track and field, baseball, basketball. In high school I mostly stuck to football and wrestling. I attended a Division II school in Missouri (Northwest Missouri State University) where I walked on to the football team my freshman year.
A typical session with me will start with a solid warm up. Warm ups will consist of soft tissue work with a foam roll to ready the muscles for exercise. We will then move into mobility, and activation work. Once that is done we will try to warm up the body temperature with some up tempo dynamic stretching routines. We then will go into a lift session where we will cover basics first and then progress into more complex movements. I like to use free weights since athletes play in all 3 dimensions so we train in all three dimensions. A triple extension movement (ankle, knee, hip), a core strength movement (bench, squat) and finish with some injury prevention work and body building exercises for added muscle. We will usually finish with some sort of conditioning work that is sport specific.
