More About Coach Logan
I’ve coached ages 4-16 with Next Level Lacrosse, including serving as the assistant coach for a team of sophomores and running learn-to-play clinics for younger athletes. Aside from coaching, I am also an educator—I taught French to middle and high schoolers as well as working as a permanent building sub at a preschool/elementary school, so I am well-versed in pedagogy and best practices in working with young people. In particular, I am passionate about building strong relationships with athletes in order to create a safe, positive environment that allows kids to grow and excel. I am CPR and First Aid certified, and in the process of obtaining my NASM Personal Trainer Certification.
I played club lacrosse for Next Level and later Uproar/ULAX as a preteen and teen, in addition to being a four year varsity starter at Georgetown Day School. Among my high school teammates, I was the only athlete to compete in college at the varsity level, going on to play for Oberlin College, a DIII institution in Ohio.
Having spent twelve years in cage and gone on to train goalies at the youth club level, I often focus on fundamentals—with an emphasis on the “mental.” Athletes can expect a session tailored to their needs in cage so that they can become a more well-rounded and adaptable goalkeeper. Of course this includes reps in goal with detailed and constructive feedback, but it also involves a great deal of drilling to focus on specific growth areas—hand speed, foot speed, positioning, angles, vision, smart clears, stick-handling and more, all depending on a specific athlete's goals and needs. I’m also invested in cultivating the whole person, which generally includes building confidence, as well as developing criticality so athletes can identify their strengths and weaknesses and work towards improvement and excellency, both on and off the field.
