More About Coach Lindsey

In college I started working closely with youth and high school summer track programs developing the distance squads with systematic approaches to conditioning, technique, and strength. I was team caption my last 3 years in college where I oversaw long runs, strength training and dietary intake for the women's cross country and distance track team. I was offered multiple positions to coach collegiately but decided to stay in KC where I help manage, coach and recruit for City of Fountains Athletic club, one of KC's most competitive distance clubs. Since 2013 we have developed the fastest women's club distance squad KC has seen in over 10 years. Recently I signed with Kansas City's elite development team, KC Smoke, and have begun travel to national competitions to represent my city. I have huge passion for holistic approaches to training and emphasize balance and nutrition.

Client Reviews

Coach Lindsey was very easy to schedule with. She tries to be very accommodating and met me exactly at the time she said she would. She was very easy to talk to and did a great job of trying to get to know me so she could individualize a plan for me. Our first session went great and I look forward to meeting with her again!

I was not a high school or college runner. In fact, I did my first race EVER just 6 years ago at the age of 33…and it was a sprint triathlon!! That race got me hooked and I have done sprint, olympic, and half ironman triathlons as well as 5Ks to marathons since then. Reading countless articles about training, talking with fellow athletes, and sticking to training plans helped me make progress. I qualified for Half Ironman Worlds and Boston during these past 6 years; but like many competitive individuals, I was still striving to get the next PR. It seemed to be harder and harder to see improvement. I was having trouble figuring out when to push harder and when to dial it back in training. I dealt with injuries and burnout because I was overtraining. Then I met Lindsey McDonald. I started running some with her running groupies and found that she had some great advice for me. She took me under her wing about 6 months ago and started helping me set up my training schedule. Over just 6 weeks of following her workout plans, I improved my 5K time on a much harder course. Currently, she is helping me train for a half marathon, and I am seeing the difference of working with a coach. Lindsey has taken a lot of the guess work out of my training. She has helped me find a balance in my training so that I am not overdoing it and am more in tune with my effort. She has taken the time to join me on runs and to talk me through rough training patches. Regardless of my finishing time on this next race, my paces and mental stamina have improved. I am convinced that you don't have to be an elite athlete or the first wave group to benefit from a personal coach. I am having more fun running now than ever before, primarily because now I am running smarter.
Lindsey McDonald became Park University's newest Track and Field All-American and set a new school record in the process, finishing fifth in the NAIA Marathon Championship Saturday (May 25) in Marion, Ind., finishing the 26.2-mile race in 3:00.52 at the 2013 NAIA Track and Field National Championship. Today I had an opportunity to complete a goal, and I was able to do it," McDonald said. "I can't thank Coach (Brian) Renshaw enough for the opportunity to finish my career this way. McDonald ran last season's race and finished outside the top 10, moving in to fifth place in 2013 to become the team's only All-American in 2013. Thomas Chelulei also ran the marathon on the men's side, finishing 24th in 2:39.37. I'm proud of the way both Thomas and Lindsey ran," Renshaw said. "For Lindsey, this is a lot of hard work culminating in one really great race. She started as a really novice runner at Park and became an All-American. Chelulei and McDonald were Park's final two competitors for the 2013 NAIA Track and Field National Championship.
