More About Coach Lindsey
I have 35 years of experience playing and coaching the game of lacrosse, having been born and raised in the Maryland lacrosse hub, where I was fortunate to play for experienced coaches and with some truly great players and people. I grew up playing for the Chesapeake club program, now CC Lax, which went nearly undefeated in tournament championship play and sent nearly half of its players to top DI programs. I went on to play at Princeton University, graduating with both team and individual accolades, and for Team USA.
I've been coaching youth, high school, and college lacrosse players and teams since graduating from Princeton in 2005. In college I coached the Princeton camps each summer with Hall of Fame Princeton head coach Chris Sailer, was the head coach for an elite high school club team in Washington DC for years post-college, where I coached them to several tournament championships and aided with recruiting, and volunteered for the Boston University Women's Lacrosse Team when I first moved to Boston. The Boston College Eagles have invited me out to practices here and there and in Winchester I've helped coach the high school team for a few years. I now have a 6 year old daughter and have had a blast coaching her youth team and watching her and her teammates have fun on the field, support each other, and fall in love with the sport.
In transitioning into private training, I believe in bringing game strategy and team-building principles to individualized skill development. I also believe in developing the mental aspect of performance in compliment to the physical. Adding to my own experience with the mental side of the game, I am working towards a certificate in performance psychology. Lacrosse is a wonderful arena for building confidence, resilience, goal-setting skills and values that support a strong sense of self. As a team sport, for fostering inclusion and teaching athletes how to work together as a group and contribute to something greater than individual achievement. I hope to contribute the best of what I have learned from both sides of the game to those girls finding their own way through their love of the sport.
Member of Princeton's Division I Women's Lacrosse National Championship Team of 2002 and 2003, runner-up in 2004. Graduated second all-time from Princeton in goals and career points. 2x First Team All-American, 1 of 5 Finalists for the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2005 (1 of 18 nominees in 2004), Ivy League Player of the Year, and Diane Guiseppe-Aikens Award Finalist. Team USA player through 2007.
Individual sessions offered as well as group sessions with up to 6 athletes. Sessions will be tailored to the skill level and goals of each individual athlete or group. Fundamentals in stick skills, footwork, and game concepts will transition into strategy and building lacrosse IQ through individualized drills and small game situations, with specific emphasis on 1v1s, 2v2s, and 3v3s. Athletes will learn how to visualize, create, and capitalize on opportunities on the field while developing mastery of technique and their unique individual style. Sessions will be fun, fast-paced, and positive, culminating in a short mental performance or team building exercise to help athletes develop resilience and confidence both on and off the field.
