More About Coach Lawanda Shanea

I coached division 1 track and field for 2 years as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky University. I also am a personal trainer and I own my own personal training business, Body Rock Health and Fitness, LLC. I teach a local bootcamp class that focuses on a combination of cardio, core, and high intensity exercises. Typical ages for the bootcamp participants is 16-45. I am open to and capable of training all age groups.

For the past 2 years I have been the head girl’s coach of a fitness camp ran by former NFL player George Wilson. I led exercises and classes for girls ages 3-14.

I hold 13 Kentucky high school state championships in track and field.
3 time 4 x 100 meter relay state champion
3 time 100 meter state champion
3 time 200 meter state champion
3 time long jump state champion
1 time 400 meter state champion

I was a full scholarship track and field athlete at Western Kentucky University. At one point I held 7 school records at WKU (55 meter dash, 60 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 4x 100 meter dash relay, 4 x 400 meter dash relay, and the distance medley relay.)
I am still the 55 meter dash record holder at WKU.
At WKU I was named twice as the Sunbelt Athlete of the week. I was an NCAA National Track Championship qualifier in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

I am qualified and exerpeineced to train athletes in speed and agility as well as in overall fitness/endurance.
For agility I use ladder and cone drills. For fitness I use the natural environment, medicine balls, light dumbbell weights, short hurdles, cones, kettlebells, ladders, etc to focus on fitness endurance.

I like to begin with a free consultation to better understand the athletes needs and parent concerns. From there I will develop a plan of action to help reach the goal that has been set.

I typically like to begin with a dynamic warm up ( light stretching and drills) and then progress into the workout (will vary per session depending on if I am coaching speed/agility or coaching overall fitness). The session will end with a cool down. I like to run training sessions between 45 minutes to an hour max.
