More About Coach Lamar

My coaching is based on the principles I’ve learned from all my coaches I’ve trained with. I've incorporated all of these principles into my style of coaching to fit the students/Fighters needs. I found that the combined training style of my coaches and my coaching style together will provide an impact on his/her career.
I love working with students/Fighters of all ages and levels, but I especially love the challenge of coaching beginners, because with them I can mold them into a great Fighter right from the beginning.

I set a goal to become an MMA fighter and I did. I'm 2-2-0 as an amateur and hold 2 metals and 1 trophy. I hold a 1st and two 3rd place metals in “gi” and a 2nd place in “no gi” Brazilian jiu jitsu.

I have earned 4 certifications through (ASFA) American Sports & Fitness Association
Health Club Manager, Group Fitness / Boot Camp Instructor, Kettlebell Instructor and Water Aerobics Instructor. USABoxing Coach with Passport, Cornerman / 2nd for Boxing and MMA in Oregon and Washington, and USAWrestling Coach with Card. I have a Lifeline (American Heart Association) Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Card. My biggest accomplishment was becoming a Gym Owner / Operator.

I have my student/fighter fill out an assessment sheet so they can tell me everything about their overall health and fitness. Then I assess their overall body strengths and weaknesses so that I can tailor the training session/s to their fitness needs, as every person has different needs and goals to accomplish. Each session will have different drills for the student/fighter to go through and learn to help with their overall individual game.

Client Reviews

Lamar was amazing! He did great with my son. Unfortunately soccer kind of took over our lives so we didn’t continue with him but had we had the time we would be working with him ongoing. Highly recommend!

As a beginner I went to Coach Lamar and he was very helpful and motivational. He really pays attention to the small details and helps you improve quickly! I would definitely recommend him as a coach!

Lamar is a perfectionist and trust me, this is what you want. You're not boxing for fitness with Lamar, you're boxing to master the art of boxing, he trains you like he would a professional and this motivates you to do better. Great guy, great coach who tailors approach to you while still making it fun.

Lamar has been very helpful as a boxing instructor. He's always well prepared for our sessions, is very knowledgeable about boxing, and always maintains an upbeat attitude throughout. I highly recommend him as a boxing coach - at all levels.

Having Lamar as my assistant boxing coach was an excellent decision to make. What an exceptional boxing coach! When I view Lamar's coaching performance with the students, it’s great to see how detailed oriented he is in every way as he guides the students through the training session. When he spots improvement in the students, he'll stop to work with them through what they wanted to do or what he has already showed them how to do. He helps with form, stance, foot work, movement and anything that has to do with boxing overall. There is so much Lamar as my assistant boxing coach has brought to the table; even I learn new things lol. I must say he also goes the extra mile with the students. If they have any questions with their boxing game he will stay after the training session to answer their questions, then talk and demonstrate the right way to do it. Lamar is an awesome boxing coach. I have been training in boxing for almost 10 years in two gyms that trained professional National Champions and World Champions, as well as national accredited amateurs, in two different countries. I had the chance to train under Lamar and it showed me what professional-level coaching means. His communicative skills are direct and clear, and he greatly balances pushing you to work as hard as you can with making you stop you when you have to. He is a hands-on-approach coach who will demonstrate in person the application of your drill, or exercise, as well as oversee your work from "outside". On top of everything, he is a fighter: he really knows first-hand anything he teaches, enhancing his teaching skills with actual fighting experience, and vice-versa.
