More About Coach Lamar

Former hitting coach for the Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, and most recently, New York Mets. I work with players of all ages and specialize in the development of hitting fundamentals.

I am a former pro baseball player who played from 1974 to 1982 as first baseman for Chicago White Sox and Texas Rangers. During my time as a hitting coach for the Mets farm system, I produced enough talent that in April of 2011, the team fielded a starting lineup of 100% homegrown players for the first time since 1971.

A typical session will include evaluation of the players current skill level and workouts/drills to improve skills until great technical ability comes naturally to the player when they are on the ball field.

Coach Lamar knows exactly what to look for when helping an athlete with hitting. He is very patient and knowledgeable. I took my teenage son for a tune up lesson and within a few minutes Coach Lamar had him hitting balanced, short to the ball and with power. He talks the athlete through various drills and communicates the proper technique with ease. My son enjoyed the session and we’ll definitely be working with Coach Lamar in the future!

Had a great first session with Coach Lamar. Coach took time to analyze my grandson's stance, base, swing and explain how he would proceed to build him into a power hitter. Awesome batting coach and would recommend Coach Lamar! We’ve been looking for a batting Coach and have tried various batting coaches through dbat and it never felt personable to what we were needing. Coach Lamar really knows his stuff and with just one practice so far, has made adjustments to my sons form that no one else thought to change. Looking forward to the fall season as we have finally found a permanent batting coach!

My son had his first lesson with Lamar last night. Words cannot describe how pleased I am with it. My son is 13 and has always had a very sluggish ugly swing, within just the first few minutes of the lesson he tweaked him and he started swinging the bat twice as fast…by the time the lesson was over it didn’t even look like the same kid…Definitely worth every penny and the drive, I live over an hour away but it doesn’t matter, my son will for sure be a regular with him.
