More About Coach Kyle
I have several years of coaching experience. I mainly do private and small group lessons. In addition, I have also done volunteer work at my community college and high school, working with larger groups. I typically will coach kids in the age ranges of elementary to middle school.
Here's a little about my athletic career as a basketball player. For high school, I attended Foothill High in Santa Ana, California, where I played throughout my whole 4 years of high school, and I played 2 years on varsity. After I graduated, I attended community college at Irvine Valley College to study and continue playing basketball for another 2 years. I just finished my sophomore season this year.
A typical individual training session from me will typically involve first a warmup to help prevent unnecessary physical stress and injury. Then move onto skill work, I first like to start off with ball handling, as it is a great way to warm up the players' hands and get them moving. Then I move on to shooting drills as this helps develop their fundamentals, such as footwork. Once I'm done with these basic drills, I will involve the player in more live-action game-like scenarios that involve more complex movement like dribbling up the floor into a slightly contested pull-up jumpshot. At the end of the workout I usually like to involve my players in a burner which is an exercise that is more physically demanding than the others and helps push them beyond their limit.
