All sessions will be designed to fit the specific needs of the athlete.

As with any sport, learning and understanding the fundamentals of the game are critical. My coaching philosophy involves the following core principles:

• You need to walk before you can run.

Too many young players want to pick up a stick, do tricks and shoot. They eventually look good in warm-ups, but have no idea how to play the game. As the player progresses, the more he needs to be able to play a team game and develop his lacrosse IQ. There are a lot of good athletes out there, this is what will set him apart from the crowd.

• Not everyone is meant to play the same role, but there are many roles on the lacrosse field.

Players may think that they know what they are good at or what position they are meant to play, but a good coach needs to independently evaluate the player. A younger player may exhibit skills to a coach that suggest he is better suited for a different position or role. If a coach recognizes a particular strength it should be discussed with the player and he should be given the opportunity to achieve his full potential.

• Communication is key.

Players need to understand what they are being told and why they are being told to do it. In addition to instructing in such a way that the particular player comprehends, I have found that if you explain to a player why they are being told to do something a certain manner the benefits are far greater. At that point, it is not a lecture, but an interactive lesson. In addition, when a player is not achieving the result he wants, he needs to know why. There is nothing more frustrating to me than hearing a coach saying "you have to catch that ball" after a drop or "you have to stop that man" after getting beaten on a dodge. The player is well aware that they are supposed to catch the ball and stop their man. The good coach will identify why it did not happen, ensure that the player knows why it did not happen and work with the player to correct the problem.

Levels of Instruction:

Beginner: Instruction in basic fundamentals of the game, focusing on core skills. I firmly believe that progressive development utilizing proper technique is the foundation necessary for a new player to ultimately achieve his full potential.

Novice: Fundamentals continue to be stressed with drills and exercises specifically designed to link multiple core skills, furthering player development. By learning and using correct techniques, good habits are established allowing the growing player to concentrate on other aspects of the game. Rules and basic strategy of the game are introduced.

Intermediate: Expand a player's lacrosse skill set, concentrating on a those specific to an individual position if the players so desires. Footwork and body positioning becomes an integral part of a player's training at this level. With the appropriate fundamental skills coming more naturally, it is time to develop his "Lacrosse IQ", which is what sets the great players apart from the good ones.

Advanced: Tailored to an individual player's desires. Fine-tuning good technique and increasing his Lacrosse IQ are the goals of this level of instruction.

Video Review: A player may submit a video to me for review and analysis. This should be a game video and not a "highlight reel" so that game situations and strategy can be discussed as well as a player's technique. After the video has been reviewed and analyzed, I will evaluate it with the player so that he understands and appreciates the more subtle nuances of the game. By seeing why things are happening on the field, the player gains a better understanding of why certain techniques and drills are stressed during training.

Improved my sons skills instantly!

Coach Kevin was great! My son gained confidence after one session. Will definitely work with him again!

Coach kevin is the best role model and encouraging confident boosting coach I could have hoped for my 10 year old son to have had the pleasure to learn from! Knowledgeable and patient , perfected minor things that had a major impact. Thank you!!

This guys is awesome. Totally recommend coach main

Coach Kevin is very knowledgeable in the game of lacrosse. After only 1 session he taught my son some new skills and footwork to better his defensive game. He was very patient and enthusiastic during the session. Will definitely use Coach Kevin for additional coaching sessions.

Coach Kevin Main is awesome. I can't thank him enough for the work he has done with my son to help him transition to a new position on the lacrosse field. He is positive, patient, knowledgeable and creative. My soon to be fifth grader feels that every session is fun, but at the same time the progress he is making is immediately apparent. Kevin is a high school varsity coach, but understands how to coach kids of all ages extremely well. An extra bonus is that Kevin is super responsive and we were able to schedule sessions very quickly.

Experience and kind is a great motivator

Coach Kevin was great. My daughter suffers from anxiety and he was very patient and kind. Loved him!

Coach Kevin has really helped my daughter in just two lessons. He is attentive, pleasant and very easy going. He went out of his way to give her extra help (after the session) that has already benefited her game. His quick adjustment of her ground ball skills has made a huge difference already. I highly recommend Coach Kevin and look forward to booking him for more sessions with my daughter.

Kevin is an outstanding coach! An extremely nice guy who tailors sessions to my needs and my progress. Very patient and extremely knowledgeable and one who absolutely loves the game of lacrosse. Thoughtful sessions - You can definitely tell that Kevin thinks about what he wants to accomplish with me before a session even begins. Extremely flexible - I have had to cancel less than 24 hours before a scheduled session and Kevin would not have an issue. Works to have sessions around my very busy schedule.

Coach Kevin has been a great coach for my boys! They've had 2 lessons thus far, and are clamoring for more. I appreciate his time / place flexibility and willingness to work with each not at his own level. I highly recommend him.

Coach kevin did a wonderful job! Enjoyed working with him.

Kevin made solid strides in helping the stability of our boys lacrosse program...our program could be a power for seasons to come.
