"My specific background is teaching children of all ages in dance and school. I have owned and operated a preschool for 20 years and have been dancing for about 40 years. Most of my teaching has been in group fitness and dance instruction, cheer, hip-hop, lyrical, basic ballet, and dance/cardio fitness classes with ages from 4 to 18.
I currently own and operate a small preschool with a health and wellness center attached to it, teaching dance-cardio classes on Saturday mornings and some evenings when requested by clients.
In the past I worked at Starlet Dance Studio, All Star Youth, YAFL Cheer, and with a performing group called CCK! until they dissolved due to finances. However, I currently now teach at my health and wellness center in Albuquerque, NM and my focus is on becoming a certified instructor through ACE for group fitness and dance to add to my list of education and degrees.
A typical session is started by warming up the body with dance, then work on different songs with different moves to extend the genre of dance. For routines, I look at moves for muscle memory and focusing on powerful performance, stage presence, and technique to use and improve on for the actual performance. I research many other teams, videos, movies, and actual performances to give the best of what I've got to make a routine work. Rehearsal. Rehearsal. Rehearsal... I specialize in people feeling their music so their body shows the emotion coming through in their performance. Another thing I focus on is confidence to shine. A performance needs to be believable and feeling the music is important. Any one can be trained to dance if they feel!"
