More About Coach Keith

He just never stops!!. An author, coach, teacher, and now Video & Virtual Reality developer. Understanding that sports training is changing and the advancement of technology is growing faster than ever, Coach Coleman decided to change the training scene. With his, IT system now allows players to train with Video & Virtual Reality. A training that no one else has. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Coach Coleman made up his mind he wanted to be a collegiate basketball coach. Coleman not only accomplished it on the men’s side but also on the women’s side as well. His last collegiate coaching position was at AIB College of Business where he also was the athletic director as well. Before going to AIB he spent the three previous seasons as the head girls' basketball coach and director of athletics at Northeast Christian Academy (NCA) in Kingwood, Texas. During his tenure with the Lady Warriors, the program posted a 45-18 overall record and made back-to-back trips to the second round in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 2A State Tournament in 2011 and 2012. The team posted three consecutive winning seasons during that span and also finished as the San Marcos (Texas) Tournament Champion in 2011.

Before taking the reins at NCA, Coleman spent five seasons (2003-2008) as the head men's basketball coach at Kingwood College in Kingwood, Texas. He led the Coyotes to the 2007 and 2008 Lone Star College Conference Championship while amassing an 83-58 overall record. Coleman was also the head coach of the AAU Lady Cardinals out of Kingwood from 2005-2010, leading the team to the 2005 National Championship and the University of North Carolina Team Camp championship. Several of his former players went on to play in colleges to included Colorado State University and Clarke University. In 1995, he became involved with international basketball, coaching the men's team on the USS Harlan County. His team traveled the Mediterranean Sea, competing against teams from France, Spain, Italy, Africa, Israel, Turkey and Greece and compiling a 16-0 record. Coleman was the head college coach for the Hampton Roads Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) team in 1991 and 1992, compiling a 39-5 record. The team, which consisted of players from Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University and Hampton University, won the 1991 Eastern NROTC championship at the University of North Carolina, Carmichael Gymnasium. "To coach a championship basketball game on the same floor as Hall of Fame Coach Dean Smith had coached his teams was a once-in-a-lifetime experience," recalled Coleman. Coleman founded One on One Basketball Training and is also the author of "One on One, How To Teach Your Child Basketball." His coaching philosophy is rooted in a phrase he coined, "Winning is Temporary, Learning is Forever." He believes that if you teach the game correctly, winning will follow.

Creator of the WAVA basketball system. Here is what people are saying about Coach Coleman's basketball IQ. "In an era of strength and speed in athletics, I find it funny how so many “experts” on basketball can NOT see what Coach Coleman has done with this video. He has given all of us a look into the future of basketball. I know there are some people that say this cannot work, but I beg to differ. In order to really grasp the depth of this video one must look back at the history of sports, so let’s take professional football for example. The two-minute offense, no-huddle offense and the hurry-up offense, all were thought of as something that was never going to work in its inception. Everyone said it is just a fad, it will not last or catch on…well, we all know that is NOT what happened. It did catch on to the point where every NFL team has a two minute, no-huddle, hurry-up offense. Why, because it disrupts the defensive strategies and flexibility. Don’t like football let’s look at basketball… run and shoot offense. Another idea that was thought could never work. Why you ask because it was thought to be a “street ball” basketball tactic. The mindset was that inter-city basketball was never going to work at the professional level. Wrong again. Every professional and college team has a fast break, run and shoot offense.

Coach Coleman has helped the speed of the game with his “WAVA” system.. Think about it, speed is what fans want. Teams that learn to run this type of offense will have more people coming to see their teams than those not running the “WAVA” system. Heck as a society we want things now, we want instant everything. So why would we(the fans) not want our sports to be faster and more entertaining? Also as we know, not every player will play in the NBA or WNBA. But they will play at some lower level. The problem coaches face is everyone wants to play, but it is hard to win that way. Parents get upset when they come and their child does not get into the game. There is also the other side of the coin where you have the parent who has a more advanced child and is upset because the coach is playing some less talented players and the team loses. Coach Coleman’s “WAVA” system gives a coach a way to make both parents happy. A chance to play everyone and an opportunity to win, and win often. If you do not buy this video then you as a coach have just shot yourself in the foot. OUCH! So the “WAVA” System of Coach Coleman is the future of basketball. Looking at all things fairly…YES! Honestly, it will not be used in its entirety but smart coaches’ will take bits and pieces of it and adapted it to their programs in the future. Those that don't will be getting blown out of the gyms and possibly be the coaches losing their jobs because they are not willing to change. So for those not seeing the future of basketball I say open your eyes. It is the” WAVA”. Good job Coach Coleman can’t wait to buy your next DVD."

Coach Coleman is also an author. His book is One on One, How to teach your child basketball covers all the bases for parents as well as coaches. Author Keith Coleman, who has over thirty years of coaching experience, shows parents the basics of teaching your child the game of basketball. He explores how young players process the information while you teach them basketball fundamentals.
In this informative and easy-to-read book, you will learn how to help your youngster develop the coordination and confidence they will need throughout their basketball careers--and beyond. Each chapter has coaching tips, summaries, and questions for the parents to help with the instruction.
Topics include:
• Coaching verse Teaching
• How to know what type of learner you have
• Why parents want to coach
• How kids learn basketball
• Ball handling, dribbling, shooting, passing
• And more
From learning how a basketball player learns the game to the difference between gravitational balance and air balance, One on One, How to teach your child basketball gives you the advice and know-how to teach your child the game of basketball.
Coach Coleman uses his book as a guide to drills and training for your child.

Coach Coleman was excellent with my pre-teen daughter. He gave her drills she could practice at home by herself. She can't wait to go back for another session!

Coach’s assessment session was very knowledgeable and supportive of a youth’s overall growth. It’s rare to see coaches who are interested in their students at that level so it made us feel comfortable as parents and as a family overall.

Our son has had several sessions with Coach Keith, and we are coming back for many more in the off season. Perfect coach my boys is to happy

Great session

Excellent communicator, very positive in his approach and extremely knowledgeable about helping athletes mechanically improve.

It is said that coaching is the process of assisting a player to improve performance. Yet, Coach Keith Coleman is doing that and so much more for our 13-year-old twin boys. They went from barely knowing how to dribble a basketball to making the team at their Jr. High after just a few lessons! We absolutely love his coaching styles! He’s experienced, personable, inspiring, and has a great sense of humor. Even though they're twins, he tailors his training to their individual skillsets and personalities. He’s teaching our sons the skills to play the game, sportsmanship, and many valuable life lessons. We cannot say enough wonderful things about The Coach. The best way we know how to show our appreciation for Coach Coleman’s help is to continue our sons’ lessons for the unforeseeable future.

Enjoyed our 1st meeting. Great initial assessment of my son, with plans for building him up. Real 1:1 coaching. My son's looking forward to additional sessions.

As a young player on an older team, my son struggled to find his identity on the team. Coach Keith Coleman is awesome! After just a few sessions, I have noticed an improvement in my son’s knowledge of basketball fundamentals. Coach Coleman believes in my son’s potential and is dedicated to helping him improve as an athlete. He provides top notch coaching, pulling the best from every athlete. Our aim is to ultimately compete at the collegiate level. We believe Coach Keith Coleman can help get our son there.

Coach Keith is someone worthy of respect. His presence alone and command of the game makes you want to listen and learn. He has extensive experience in all levels of the game, including from the business side. He's a teacher, a mentor and a coach. Our son loved each lesson and came home & practiced each new move and skill he learned. Coach Keith is very motivational, not negative, but builds you up. He explains the "why's" behind each skill he is teaching. He also has great toys and tricks. As a parent watching from the side, I learned a lot too. There are some life lessons to be learned from Coach Keith as well, not just sports! We feel privileged to know him

My son loves working with Coach Keith! He's very patient while still pushing him to work hard.

I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect fit for my daughter. I came across Coach Keith and to say his credentials were eye popping was an understatement. I thought to myself this is the Coach for my daughter and after one day removed from her 1st session I know he is. Yes his knowledge is obvious, but the way he interacted with my daughter was awesome. He was patient and very engaging the entire time. My expectations were blown away and I left very excited. More importantly my daughter was even more excited about the thought of working with Coach Keith going forward. We will definitely be booking another training session. If I could give Coach Keith 6 ⭐️ I would!!

Excellent coach!!!!

We had our first lesson with Coach Keith this weekend and I was very impressed with him. He really took the time evaluate my daughter's skill level - found her strengths and weaknesses and worked according to those. We (both my daughter and I) are very excited to work with him going forward! Thanks Coach!

Coach Keith was a great coach! My daughter is very new to basketball and he was very patient, fun and motivating. We look forward to more sessions!

Excellent coach. He commanded the stage and attracted the boys's attention in that one hour. He showed them the techniques that they never had an opportunity to learn. He is a class above. Thank you coach for your help!

(no details provided)

This will be a different review than most. I played football for over 20 years at multiple levels so needlessly to say I've been around lots of coaches in my lifetime. The moment I shook Coach Keith's hand I knew there was something different about this one. Well I was right. He served as an officer in the Marine Corp and is currently retired. While in the service he had the opportunity to work closely with Gen Colin Powell's Team. As a parent this speaks volumes to me as I'm constantly trying to show my son positive examples of male leadership in a world where quite frankly "Where have all the men gone?"
Coach Keith is a fantastic coach that really has the experience to coach kids to the next level of play and basketball intelligence. His basketball resume speaks for itself. He's got just enough of that old school coach in him that kids need these days!!! My son really responded well to him. We will definitely be back!!

Coach Keith I would like to thank you for the first session you had with Aidan. He is so excited with your skill for the game and all the techniques you provided him when playing. I would highly recommend Coach Keith

Our son enjoyed his first of many sessions with Coach Keith. The session was well prepared and planned. Coach Keith gave our son clear instructions and explained each one while being positive and encouraging.

Our initial meeting with Coach Keith was beyond our expectations. He was very honest, knowledgeable, informative, and had developed a plan to help improve the skill level on the first visit. He took the time to answer the questions from both parent and player. We look forward to our future sessions with Coach Keith!

Coach Coleman has a special love for basketball that translates into a great teaching style. He can't help but pass his love for the game onto his students. My son has benefited greatly from his sessions with Coach Coleman.

My 14 year old had his first of many future sessions with Coach C. Meaning to say I was very impressed with his evaluation assessment of what my son needs to help make him a star basketball player. He really knows my son's strengths and weaknesses and is very honest in letting you know what they are and what it will take to get him where he wants to be.

Overall I felt the session was very good. He pinpoints things that players need to become better players and that's what counts. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone who's wanting to better their athlete

The technical skills that coach Coleman is able to communicate and have kids understand is beyond praise. The steps seem so simple, it makes you wonder why every coach is not delivering these tools. The skills my child has learned in a few visits should have been taught years ago. The skill improvement and confidence is tremendous. My only recommendation is to do it earlier rather than later. Should you want more details I have given coach Coleman my approval to give out my number.

Great coach, knows the game and all aspects around it, on and off the court.

Coach Keith was awesome!! Taught all three of my boys.

Coach keith is timely, organized and has a great connection with his students. We can't wait until our next session!

My team had two sessions with Coach Keith. They all went well and we did learn a lot from the training. Coach Keith is very organized and patient. He was able to quickly figure out our current issues and correct them. I recommend Coach Keith to anyone who is willing to improve the basketball skills or work it out as a team.

Coach Coleman did an amazing job with my son. He does an exceptional job of really explaining the different activities. My son was excited to have worked with him.

Parents, If you want to teach your child how to play a piano you get a piano teacher. You don't hire a piano player. Basketball training is no different. If you want your child to learn basketball correctly then hire a teacher of basketball, not just someone who played basketball. Coach Coleman is that teacher!!!!
I don't have the words to describe the impact you have had on my daughter this summer...you have made a difference in my daughter's life...." - DARLA and KATIE from WALTRIP, TX
I just want to thank you for all you have done for my son. After the first lesson, he was sold on you and your method and we (my husband and I) were also. So I would be remised if I did not take this time to thank you for all you and your program have done for my son." - MARY from HOUSTON, TX
I have so many things to say… thank you for your dedication to being a positive influence to my daughter. You have such a unique gift with kids. That’s most important to all." -BILL & DEBBIE WENTER from KINGWOOD, TX

The two minute offense, no-huddle offense and the hurry-up offense, all were thought of as something that was never going to work in its inception. Everyone said it is just a fad, it will not last or catch on…well we all know that is NOT what happened. It did catch on to the point where every NFL team has a two minute, no-huddle, hurry-up offense. Why, because it disrupts the defensive strategies and flexibility. Don’t like football let’s look at basketball… run and shoot offense. Another idea that was thought could never work. Why you ask, because it was thought to be a “street ball” basketball tactic. There is also the other side of the coin where you have the parent who has a more advance child and is upset because the coach is playing some less talented players and the team loses. Those that don't will be getting blow out of the gyms and possibly be the coaches losing their jobs because they are not willing to change. So for those not seeing the future of basketball I say open your eyes. It is the” WAVA”. Good job Coach Coleman can’t wait to buy your next DVD.
