More About Coach Kat

I spent 2012 working as a cross country coach for a girls' middle school team and a co-ed high school team. One of my key assets as a coach is my comfort and familiarity in dealing with injuries. As a runner, teammate, and coach, I have seen just about any running-related injury there is. I have a lot of experience incorporating strength and stretching work to treat and prevent injuries. While I worked with my high school team, I implemented a rigorous cross training program to rehabilitate our injured runners and return them to the cross county season at the same or higher level of fitness.

- I have been running for the past 12 years - throughout middle school, high school, and college - and now beyond.
- I won two conference championships with my team in high school.
- In my freshman year at college, my team won conferences and I earned a spot on the all conference team. I continued on with the team to race at regionals and nationals.
- In track, I raced the 3000m steeplechase and placed in 7th in the conference in 2011.
- Post-college, I have competed in a variety of road races and cross country races, ranging from 5k-10k and am looking to compete in half and full marathons this year.

Session plans will be entirely dependent on what you, the athlete, is looking to improve upon. Prior to any session, I will contact you on the phone and we will discuss a training plan that will fit and fulfill your needs. This could include developing a training schedule to prepare you for a race or to hit a specific goal, finding a way to implement running and overall fitness into your daily routine, or creating a plan to overcome an injury.
Every session will include a run or other cardio-related workout, a dedicated warm up for the run - including dynamic stretching and strengthening, and a targeted cooldown to include leg strengthening, active trigger point release, stretching, and core work. Running sessions will include anything from long runs, interval workouts, tempo runs, and even run-walk hybrids for true beginners. I have experience with all levels and all skills - I can tailor make a running plan that will be perfect for you!
