More About Coach Justin
Here’s a basketball-focused version:
I have over four years of basketball coaching and player development experience, working with athletes from beginner to collegiate levels. My experience includes one-on-one training, small-group sessions, team practices, youth camps, and competitive game coaching, with a strong focus on skill development, basketball IQ, confidence, and game application.
I currently work as a Basketball Trainer and Coach with EBC Training Centers, where I train athletes in individual and group settings, coach youth teams, lead seasonal camps, and create development plans tailored to each player’s goals.
Previously, I worked as a Basketball Trainer at Shoot 360 Kirkland, where I trained more than 150 athletes, coached AAU teams, and helped players improve their shooting, ball handling, footwork, decision-making, and overall game performance. Several athletes I worked with went on to compete at the high school varsity and collegiate levels.
In addition to player development, I have served as a JV Head Coach at both Eastlake High School and Juanita High School, where I was responsible for practice planning, game preparation, player development, and building a competitive team culture.
I primarily coach athletes ages 6 through college and enjoy helping players of all skill levels reach their potential. My coaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, attention to detail, accountability, and creating game-like training environments that translate directly to competition.
While I do not currently hold formal basketball-specific certifications, my experience is built on years of hands-on coaching, player development, leading competitive teams, and mentoring athletes both on and off the court.
I competed at the collegiate level as a student-athlete at Green River College, where I developed a strong foundation in high-level competition, teamwork, and leadership. My experience as a college player gives me firsthand knowledge of the dedication, discipline, and work ethic required to perform at the next level.
Following my playing career, I transitioned into coaching and player development, where I have helped athletes of all ages improve their skills and confidence while pursuing their own basketball goals. My experience as both a player and coach allows me to teach the game from multiple perspectives and relate to athletes working to reach the high school and collegiate levels.
While I have not competed professionally and have not earned major individual athletic awards, my accomplishments are reflected in the success of the teams I’ve coached, the players I’ve helped develop, and my continued commitment to growing the game through coaching and mentorship.
Every training session is tailored to the athlete’s age, skill level, and goals, but each workout is designed to be high-energy, game-focused, and detail-oriented.
A typical session begins with dynamic movement and ball-handling to activate the body and reinforce strong fundamentals. From there, we focus on footwork, change of pace, and decision-making before progressing into shooting, finishing, and position-specific skill work.
I emphasize drills that translate directly to game situations, including:
* Ball handling under pressure
* Shooting off the catch and off the dribble
* Footwork and balance
* Finishing through contact with both hands
* Passing and court vision
* Defensive stance, lateral movement, and closeouts
* Basketball IQ through game-speed reads and live decision-making
As the session progresses, I increase the intensity by incorporating game-like scenarios, competitive drills, and conditioning so athletes learn to execute skills while fatigued—just like they would in a real game.
I also provide constant feedback throughout the workout, breaking down technique, correcting habits, and helping athletes understand not only how to perform a skill but when and why to use it during competition.
My goal is for every athlete to leave each session more confident, fundamentally sound, and better prepared to perform in games.
