More About Coach Juan Manuel
I currently serve as the Director of Goalkeeping Academy at Kansas Rush, where I lead the development and implementation of goalkeeper training across the club, creating structured environments that support both technical growth and game understanding. I also work with players in individual training settings, coaching both goalkeepers and field players across multiple levels, including college, MLS NEXT, ECNL, ECRL, and all school levels, with a focus on technical, tactical, and positional development.
Prior to this role, I was the goalkeeper coach at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) through 2025. In 2023, I helped lead the program to its first NAIA National Championship, finishing 17-4-4, with starting goalkeeper Enzo Carvalho earning National Championship All-Tournament Team honors. In 2024, I continued with the program, contributing to another national tournament appearance.
Alongside my collegiate experience, I coached youth teams at KC Legends and helped launch the club’s goalkeeping academy, which provides structured training three times per week for players across different age groups and levels.
My coaching career began at Oklahoma Christian University, where I served as the Graduate Assistant Goalkeeper Coach in 2021 and 2022. During that time, the program improved from one win in 2021 to 11 wins in 2022—the most since transitioning to NCAA Division II—and qualified for the conference tournament for the first time in the D2 era.
I concluded my playing career in 2020 with Green Bay Hoppers in Antigua, where we were sitting second in the league with two matches remaining before the season was cut short due to COVID.
In 2019, I completed my collegiate career at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) in Kansas, where I earned Newcomer of the Year honors.
Prior to that, I played at the University of the Southwest (NAIA) in New Mexico, contributing to the program’s best regular season in its history.
I began my college career at Feather River College in California, where we won the Golden Valley Conference in my freshman year and finished as runners-up in my sophomore season.
Before moving to the United States, I developed in Argentina as part of the youth academy at Club Atlético Temperley from 2011 to 2016, where I competed with my age group and gained experience training with the first team.
I started playing soccer at the age of 7, building the foundation that would shape both my playing and coaching journey.
In my individual sessions, I adapt to each player’s needs. The first session is an evaluation of their technical and tactical fundamentals, and from there I build a training plan tailored to their development and goals.
My focus is on helping players make better decisions by recognizing patterns and reacting with confidence in game situations. As we progress, we work more on tactical awareness and in-game adjustments.
I also keep things structured with session progress notes, monthly check-ins, and clear 60, 90, and 120-day plans to track growth.
I like to include video analysis when possible and really focus on building confidence and a strong relationship with each player. Overall, it’s a holistic approach—helping them improve, solve problems, and enjoy the process.
