More About Coach Joshua
My baseball career started at a young age and ended after 2-years of collegiate junior college ball. I have never directly coached a team or individual, however I have earned my degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science from California State University Sacramento. Through my years as a player I understand the various techniques and exercise protocol that are most effective for progressing both fundamentals and strength needed for success. My academic career gave me insight into the various physiological, musculoskeletal, and mental aspects that should be addressed when undertaking a workout regimen. Put simply, I understand the nutrients required to induce the greatest benefits, the most effective ways to breakdown and gain muscle, and the volume and intensity required to reduce likelihood of overtraining.
At Folsom Lake College I was MVP pitcher as well as awarded Bay Valley All-Conference. I pitched over a hundred innings that year with an E.R.A. close to 3.0. My team and I went to the super regional play-offs in which I was topping out around 89mph. I have been coached by many different coaches over the years and know what strategies work and what do not.
In order to be successful a player needs to create “muscle memory”. This requires 10,000 repetitions but is only beneficial if those repetitions are fundamentally sound. There are basic fundamentals that are core to having success. I will teach players to use their legs to drive down the mound as well as how to get the most out of their arm. This involves balance and strength training specifically in the legs, back, and shoulder muscles. I am a strong believer in the Jeager band program in which “pull-downs” are my main focus. Finding the correct release point and driving through the pitch accurately and consistently are my main goals.
