More About Coach Joshua

I've been coaching and training athletes for 7 years. I coached junior high and high school basketball for four years. The last three years I have been coaching individual athletes and getting them physically prepared for their season. I typically work with basketball and soccer athletes. I have worked with kids as young as 6 years old all the way up to overseas professional athletes. I currently have my NASM CPT & PES, FMS Level 1, Crossfit level 1. I have worked with Trinity Athletics and Team 44 here in Phoenix.

I played high school basketball. Tried to walk on to a community college but got injured. As a coach I have lead 4 out 5 teams to the playoff. Lead two teams to the semi-finals.

Strength, Speed & Agility
Workouts vary depending on clients current ability and goals. Every sessions starts with a movement prep/dynamic warmup. The movement prep is used to identify any movement restrictions and also get the body ready for activity.
Once we have finished the warm up, we walk through what the workout will be. During this period a explanation and demonstration of every movement will done so the client knows what we are doing and why.
During the workout, I will be watching for proper technique and providing quo's and corrections where needed.
Each workout starts with a speed or power portion. This is usually 2-4 sets of low rep but high intensity movements with extended rest periods.
The middle of a workout is focused on strength. This is where we will focus on building muscle and strength depending on clients needs.
The workout always ends with a cool down and some stretching to make sure the clients leaves feeling good.

Before each coaching session Coach Josh reaches out to the players to find out what skill they want/need to work on for the week and then incorporates that skill into drills he already has. Each week, Coach Josh continues to build on the skills from the week before. At the end of each session, Coach reviews all the drills he worked on with the players. Josh is personable, professional and truly dedicated to making the players he works with better. He takes time to develop relationships with his player, which allows him to "read" his players and zone in on their challenges. He breaks down drills into step-by-step process and encourages his players through their frustrations. Both of my boys look forward to the time they get to spend with Coach Josh on the court each week.
Working with Prime By Design has been a great training experience. It was easy to work out dates to meet for a workout and I can see the improvement in my game just from working with Josh for about 2 months. The training session brought attention to small details I wouldn't have thought of.
