A CSU Monterey Bay graduate, I have over 14 years of combined coaching experience at the youth, club, high school, college and UPSL level. Currently, I am the assistant coach for MCSC Jaguars UPSL men's and women's teams in Salinas. Soccer to me is more than just a game it's something that teaches you life lessons and puts you in quick thinking situations.
Thrive to be Better:
The passion I hold for soccer is one that gives me joy every time I'm out there on that field. As much as I enjoy playing it that much more I enjoy coaching it. It's not always about winning and losing its did you get better, did you set yourself goals and accomplish them. Through the 1-on-1 trainings it's important to me that you don't just become better on the field, but as well as off with a sense of understanding mistakes as you watch them happen and how you would do it differently if you had the chance. A player who betters their skill and mind in a positive way starts to become a leader on and off the field and passes it on to their teammates. My private lessons take place in Salinas, Marina and Watsoville, but upon my availability. I will do my best to accommodate your family with the best available soccer training in the area.

My Athletic Highlights are many. The main ones are; Playing on the Cal-North State Team for 3 years, Playing on the US Region 4 team for 1 year, Getting invited to US National Camps, Playing for Cabrillo College 2 years, Playing for CSUMB 1 year, and playing Semi-Pro in Mexico with Club Atlas.
The most memorable highlight came to me as a coach. Watching my Anzar Girls Varsity team win their 2nd league title in the school's history. It was the most memorable, because all of them came together not just as a team, but as a family and had the greatest season they had ever been apart of. That is when as a coach you see you have done them right by teaching them to be the best they can be on the field and off.
My private lessons focus on individual technique and development for new comers, intermediate, and advanced players. As a coach it is highly important that the individual receiving the training get better each and every day even is they aren't training that day. My coaching style is to accommodate the player and guide hime to find the motivation to get better. I believe in team work and working hard to be successful. Individual training includes mastery of the ball, dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, finishing, defending, tactical play, goalie if asked, and much more.

This was my son's first training session with Coach Jose and we weren't sure what to expect, but after the first session we were pleasantly surprised. My 7 year old started off not wanting to come back and by the end coach Jose had changed his mind. He was very patient and explained everything to him in an age appropriate way he could understand. He was very kind. Whenever he would make a mistake coach Jose would correct him, explain what he did wrong and what he needed to change. If he needed it he would demonstrate the skill for him again.
