More About Coach Jordan
I coached a travel ball team from their age 9 season all the way until their 13U season. This gave me the ability to help fully develop these young players. I have also coached a few different high school teams, as my dad is a state championship high school coach.
I played high school ball in the loaded Florida panhandle, playing against some now household names. I played three years on varsity, sporting a .370 average, 1.040 OPS, 3 home-runs, .960 fielding percentage, and a 2.15 ERA my senior year. I was then blessed to play three years of college ball before receiving my college diploma. I played infield at Huntingdon college, with a .333 average, .848 OPS, 1.000 fielding percentage, and only 8 strikeouts in conference play.
How I would work out a client is simply something that is individually based. Generally speaking, in the cage I like to start off with tee work. Tee work is able to expose your raw swing and we can focus on fundamentals. Playing college ball has given me plenty of experience with simple cage and fielding drills. This allows the player to develop the essentials and keep them sharp, easing the building of skill with a solid base. I also believe in arm bands and long toss as an essential way to build arm strength for all defense, but especially on the mound. I also know countless drills to get faster and improve agility/coordination. Speed-work, simple workouts, hitting, fielding, defense, pitching; it can all be catered to the player.
