More About Coach John

My coaching experience is with quarterbacks. Mostly age groups from middle school to high school. I coached with an elite quarterback coach in Pennsylvania where I trained prior, and during my collegiate career at Kent State University. I’ve learned a lot of really cool drills throughout my playing, and coaching career. I don’t have any coaching certifications, I focused my time and effort obtaining a law degree after graduation. I miss the game, and I want to give back, and try to set up a young kid with success who has the love for the game too. I learned it’s not all about drills, it’s about assessing what each individual kid needs, and attacking it that way. No athlete should train exactly the same.

High school football at North Pocono High School in Pennsylvania. I played football, basketball, and volleyball. Went on to play quarterback at Kent State University in Ohio from 2012-2016.

It all depends on the athlete/Qb himself and where they are at, and what they need to work on. Some kids need to start from scratch and change their throwing motion. I’m usually not a huge believer in that. My sessions will mostly consist of drills that will give the Qb confidence and swag. It’s what you need as a Qb. My goal is to make the kid confident in slinging the ball around. We can work on the mental aspect of the game too, but that can be used through old playbooks and notes that I’ve received in college, I won’t waste too much time on that on the field. I’d be happy to share any playbooks I have. If the kid is more advanced, we would amp up the intensity/ pressure of the drills. But, it all comes down to the basic fundamentals, footwork, and mentality a Qb needs to bring to the table. My sessions would be fun, a WHOLE LOT OF REPS, and a big confidence booster. I don’t believe in yelling. I’m not their team coach, I’m here to build them up!
