More About Coach John

I have been involved in training, rehabbing, and coaching football for over 30 years. My experience for training and rehabilitation includes from Pop Warner level to the NFL level. My coaching and playing levels ended at the collegiate level (Div 1AA). I have worked at Boston area high schools as a coach and trainer (Div 3 to Div 1). The age groups I typically work with are 8th grade (based on maturity level) through professional, which now may be in the late thirties. I have held multiple certifications from such governing bodies as the NSCA, ACSM, and others including many continuing education courses in Functional Neurology (pertinent for brain injury rehab and prevention), post grad sports physician training, functional training and conditioning, Arpwave training and rehabilitative protocols, kettlebell certifications, and rehabilitative certifications on top of a BS, and DC degrees.

I competed as a linebacker, special teams, and fullback at the high school level here in Massachusetts (Malden Catholic HS, 2 of three varsity years were Catholic Conference Co-champs), and collegiate level in RI (URI). I captained and lettered in HS. Additionally I played college hockey in graduate school.

A typical first session involves an in depth evaluation of the athletes capabilities including but not limited to...health and injury history, biomechanical analysis, functional neurology evaluation, assessment of athletes power-strength-endurance-mobility capability. Next we move onto goals, including level of play aspiring to if not already there, position specifics, time frame (always important), and generating an action plan. From there, the goals of the athlete taken into consideration, we implement the plan arrived upon including positional/strength and conditioning needs, and maximize all the factors necessary to allow the athlete to succeed in their endeavors.

Client Reviews

John Marchese is a tremendous coach. My son wanted to try out for the high school football team. He had never played on a football team. John worked with my son for several weeks, and he quickly recognized where my son had skills, and where help was needed. He is a wonderful teacher. In addition to the teaching and training, John saw that my son needed confidence. My son ended his sessions with John with an optimistic attitude, and an enhanced work ethic. My son was able to see John's mantra of hard work paying off fulfilled as he not only made the team, but just finished his fourth year. He formed friendships and learned life lessons as part of his high school football experience, that he would have missed out on had John not helped him with the skills and confidence needed to make the team. I highly recommend him!John Marchese is a tremendous coach. My son wanted to try out for the high school football team. He had never played on a football team.
