More About Coach John
I have coached lacrosse for club teams such as Braveheart (NJ) and Team 11 (PA). I have also coached at William Penn Charter High School, where I worked as the defensive coordinator for the boys varsity lacrosse program in the Inter-Ac league. I have also coached in private lessons and lacrosse camps throughout my career of playing lacrosse. Throughout my coaching career, I have worked with players of all ages, from youth to high school varsity. With my coaching and playing history, I have a large network of high school, college, and professional connections in the lacrosse industry.
I played defense/ LSM for Villanova University, where I was a 4 year starter and captain. I currently am third in program history for caused turnovers. I was awarded all Big- East regular season honors and all Big- East tournament honors during my time at Villanova. I was also selected to the North- South All- Star after my senior year.
After Villanova, I was drafter by the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse (MLL). I played one season in Rochester before the team was relocated to Dallas. I played my second professional season for the Dallas Rattlers. I joined the Premiere Lacrosse League (PLL) during its inaugural season and was selected to play for the Chrome Lacrosse Club. I played 3 seasons for the Chrome Lacrosse Club during the years of 2019-2021. I have 5 years of professional lacrosse experience.
The first session is going to serve as a template for how I would construct training sessions moving forward. For beginners/ younger players, I like to focus on the fundamentals (stick work, defensive alignment, ground balls). If your stick is sharp at a young age, you will stand out. For older and more advanced players, I like to focus on the details of the game, on top of drilling fundamentals. The first portion of the workout with be fundamentals (stick work, footwork) and towards the second half of the workout we will get very detailed with our approach (specific game scenarios, defensive concepts, checks, how to stand out to coaches). You can always expect to be sweating by the end of the workout. I like to suit up during these workouts in order to serve as a passing partner, offensive player dodging, etc. We will always finish the workout with drills to take home with you as homework.
