More About Coach John
I have been coaching football in New England since 1992. In 2023 I was the Special Teams Coordinator, Linebackers & Receivers Coach for Lawrence HS. Prior to that I was the Head Freshman Coach at Haverhill HS for 5 years. I'm also a certified football official with the ANEFO since 2015. In 2008 I was the Assistant HC & Offensive Coordinator at Stoneham HS. I also coached the New Hampshire Charge, Northeastern Knights and Northeast Hurricanes in the New England Football Semi-Pro League as the Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. I spent 3 seasons at Woburn High School, 6 at Timberlane Junior Football, and 6 at Reading Pop Warner Football.
My specialty would be coaching the Skilled Positions, both Offensively and Defensively.
My previous coaching experience included 6 years at Merrimack College. Three seasons as the Special Teams Coordinator-Specialists Coach. Main focus on coaching the Kickers and Punters. Prior to that I was the Running Backs Coach.
In 2011 Merrimack's special teams units had two returns for a touchdown, one on kickoff and one on punt return. Isaiah Voegeli averaged 17.3 yards per return including a 68 yard touchdown while Artis Holt averaged 29.6 yards per kickoff return and had an 81 yard touchdown.

Client Reviews
Dan Curran - Head Football Coach Merrimack College (Testimonial)
I have been fortunate enough to work with John for 4+ years we have spent on the coaching staff together at Merrimack College. John has a track record of success at both the high school and college level mentoring and developing student athletes. He also has a great working knowledge of the game coaching multiple positions on the offense side of the ball as well as serving as the Special Teams Coordinator at Merrimack. John has shown the unique ability to connect with athletes from all different backgrounds which is critical when working with any athletes.
Coach Stephen MacDonald - Malden High School (Testimonial)
I have been associated with Coach Kuhne for the past eight years through coaching and have been thoroughly impressed with his professionalism and work ethic. Coach Kuhne is an outstanding communicator with student-athletes. He is fair, prompt, sincere and hardworking. Coach Kuhne is enthusiastic and energetic.
Coach Richard Tarby - Offensive Coordinator Boston College High School (Testimonial)
I have had the pleasure of knowing Coach Kuhne for the past ten years not only as trusted friend, confidant and football coach but also as an invaluable humanitarian, and a positive influence in the several communities that he has coached in. Over the years I have had the pleasure of having Coach Kuhne on my staff at my clinic, The Football Boot Camp, which teaches off season fundamentals to young people from 22 surrounding communities in the great game of football. Years back while I was the OC at Malden Catholic, Coach Kuhne was instrumental in helping us implement the Merrimack Offensive system which resulted in Malden Catholic scoring more points than it had in over 15 years. Still today I use some of the same offensive spread principles at Boston College High School where I currently serve as offensive coordinator. Coach Kuhne has played an important role in the lives of thousands of young athletes, whether it is teaching them the game of football, right from wrong, or the game of life. John is also one of the most knowledgeable, organized; prepared persons that I know and if not, one of the most dedicated and honest person I’ve come to know. What really impresses me about Coach Kuhne is that even in his many years of coaching, he still continues to educate himself in attending several coaching clinics a year along with coaching live clinics in the off-season. I’ve been coaching football on all levels from Youth to Semi-Pro for the past 35 years and I can honestly tell you that John looks at his career as helping this young person out of trouble and turning them around, or turning another player into a leader, or even watching players of his becoming coaches themselves. As coaches, we teach our kids how to conduct themselves on and off the field. We value the competition aspect more than the win itself. John Kuhne epitomizes these teachings.
