More About Coach John
Former college QB, currently coaching QBs at Otterbein University.
I've been lucky enough to have been exposed to playing with, against and being coached by people who have achieved excellence in football.
Personally, I was an All State selection in HS and was apart of MAC Championship team when I played for the University Akron. As well as being apart of Ashland University team that was a National Division 2 playoff participant.
I understand the individuality that comes with the QB position. All of my lessons are tailored to enrich the player in their areas of deficiency.
The complete QB is my goal when coaching young players.
Instilling the intangibles (ie. leadership, work ethic) of the position are just as, if not more important, as the physical and technical areas.
What I'll offer:
- Complete QB training. (ie Intangible development, Knowledge of the game, Footwork)
- Film study with the athlete for self evaluation purposes (for an extra fee)
Typical sessions would include:
- Dynamic warm-up
- Position specific movements and drills
- Working on areas of improvement during the session
- Finishing with a competition drills
Lower price doesn't mean lower quality. I know, that had my family been able to afford private coaching when I was younger it would have made myself an even more prepared athlete. I want to present that opportunity to all athletes.
Earned a scholarship to play football at the University of Akron. I played QB there for 3 years. I was lucky enough to be apart of a MAC Championship in 2006.
I transferred the following year to Ashland University where I played for the remaining 2 years of my career. Again, I was lucky enough to play for a team that went to the D2 National Playoffs.
A session would consist of an active warm-up. roughly 5-10 minutes.
The next portion would be drilling footwork and throwing mechanics.
The following portion would be game speed reps. throwing simulated routes and a stationary target.
Lastly, the session would end with a competition or warm down period.
