More About Coach Joey
I am the varsity pitching coach for Lake View High School, where the past 2 years (2018-2019) we have won the City Championship. I have been training out of the Bradley Center where I also coach a 14U travel team. I work with a range of athletes from high school (14+), to college. I have a Bachelors degree in Sports and Fitness Management from Kentucky Wesleyan College.
I have played professional baseball in the Atlantic League, a MLB partnered league in 2021. From 2020-2021 I played in the Empire Professional League where I was named the starting pitcher in the 2021 All-Star Game. In college I have received an All-conference selection my senior year (2019). My college career I played at South Suburban College in South Holland, IL in 2017, and at Kentucky Wesleyan College from 2018-2019. My last year of college I had a 1.3 ERA with 29ks in 28 innings pitched, and 0 home runs given up. I have just started my professional career in 2020.
What I am offering are lessons for pitchers to help them develop better mechanics, increase throwing velocity, developing a second or third pitch, and help with finding a proper warmup, throwing, and recovery routine
We will also be using a pocket radar gun to gage velocity, and medicine balls and Driveline plyo balls to train with.
Along with physical development I will also teach mental development of pitch sequencing, having the right mindset, and knowing the role of a pitcher.
If requested we will work on hitting and fielding after we throw.
Upon arrival we will go through a proper warm-up routine. Throw, either long toss outside if weather permits, or a bullpen/flat ground where I give feedback as the athlete throws. And end with recovery work.
For 30 minute packages I expect the athlete to already be warmed up before the lesson starts, and we would work on 1-2 things that were asked to be worked on.
My lesson prices in winter are less to help split cost of cage rentals. I expect my client to book a cage time that we both agree on
